Unhappy Problem

I am needing to replace my outside water drain shutoff lever for my fresh water. The plastic facet type lever that you turn to drain the fresh water out of your tank. Anyway, I loosened the two screws that hold the facet on, and i see a clamp that holds the clear plastic drain hose onto the plastic drain spigot. My problem is that the hose is almost all the way torn off from the spigot by the clamp and when I try to pull the hose out of the side of the camper, there is only about 1" of play (loose hose) coming out. I am afraid that it will tear off the rest of the way and the hose will go back inside the hole where I cant get to it. My back is against the wall on this one as I dont know what to do. Any ideas? If the hose DOES go back in, how can I get to it ? Thanks.

Not underneath either. I believe it is under the shower. The camper is out at my daughter's so I cant look right now but it is either the shower or the fridge.

I was wondering if you could get to the tank end of the drain line. I just looked at some photos of a 2475 and see the water fill and drain are just aft of the fridge. I looked at a floorplan and that shows the shower just aft of the fridge. That bings up the question Jim asked, where IS the water tank?

oops -- you answered while I was posting ....

I will have to wait till tomorrow morning when I go out there. Can you normally get to the fresh water drain hose from under the camper ? I did not look under the camper yet.

OK this may sound stupid BUT in our 2499 - we could access the shower from our bedroom...did you by chance look into opening the access door and seeing if the hose ran thru it????

The pictures of a 2475 I saw online showed an shallow walkin shower pan not the tub/shower thing I have in my 2363 that has the access panel. There was what looked like an inside access door under the fridge but that is also where the weel well is on the outside.

Mike,

Pending floor plan these are setup a little different. On my T310SR and my prior T2499 the entire tank was outside under the camper. The drain hose went from the side of the tank under the camper to the little white plastic drain valve screwed to the camper frame, again under the camper

Other floor plans the entire fresh tank is inside. Sometime under the bed or couch, again pending the floor plan. On those types the drain hose still clamped onto the tank but then had to drill a hole the wall at the floor line to let the hose go outside. Then the white drain valve was screwed to the side of the camper outside.

We do not know your floor plan exactly where the tank is. However if the tank is inside the camper, then the drain has to go out a wall or down through the floor and then out.

Just some info to help you look. Take your camera with you in case you can't figure it out, post some pics and we can help you sort it out.

If the hose is split, you may want to replace it, if it is not long enough to cut a fresh new end and still be long enough,

Good luck

John

I have been trying to put a small automobile hose clamp to attach the hose to the new spigot but having difficult time as only have less than an inch of drain hose to work with (and that is by pulling on it with needle nose plyers.) Do you think a wire tie would work instead of a metal hose clamp???

Mike,

I do not know if I would trust a wire tie, especially if this is in the wall of the camper. If it comes off, you have a large leak potential in the wall.

The ideal is to use a Pex crimp clamp. However those need the tool to crimp them.

I'm assuming your trying a worm gear stainless steel hose clamp. If you can get that to fit in the hole in the wall and get it on it is a good choice. Just skip the cheapy ones made from from nickel plated steel. They strip out in no time.

If thew worm drive will not fit in the wall, short of a Pex crimp, this may be an option. Go down to your local auto parts store and look at what they have. Measure the OD of the tube. They have several fuel line clamps.

This type once crimped is good. They may have other types too that are not so large on the OD to fit up in the hole in the wall.
Amazon.com: Dorman 800-312 Fuel Line Clamp, (Pack of 5): Automotive

Hope this helps

John

Thanks, but have solved the problem. Had my son-in-law pull on the hose while I put a hose clamp on it. Had to cut the hole just a skosh bigger to get the clamp to fit inside. Also took down the old mini blind and purchased a new one at Walmart, 48" and got it in place. I really apprecaite all the feedback from all of you. Mike
