Potential Sunline owner needs guidance

http://www.trailerlife.com/cforum/in...d/19886378.cfm

Bugbite over on the Trailer Life Forum, needs advise on purchasing a new 2007 Sunline T1950 - he has not gained access to our forum yet...so I thought some of you might want to go over to Trailer Life and give your comments on why he should purchase a Sunline.....his concern is they are no longer in business.....

I already put my 2 cents in!

I will post another reply to him. He posted previously in RV/Net. He is full of a zillion questions. And might be expecting more in a trailer than will be available in the size he is looking for. But, hopefully we can make him a happy Sunline owner.

Kitty

Kitty - one of his concerns is what do us Sunline owners plan to do when we need a sink trap or a knob for something in the TT, small incidental things!

I've tried twice to answer some of his questions, and I don't think I'm getting anywhere....maybe of someone else chimes in, it will work.

He has a lot of concerns because Sunline is no longer in business!

Kitty and Kathy,

You can say that again! I can't believe how many times he posts! I'm getting ready to leave, so I can't go into much detail right now, but I wouldn't let the closed factory hold him back. If I had the money, I'd go buy the 2499 General RV has on their lot right now. I wouldn't hesitate one minute.

Jon

P.S. Kathy, he mentioned something about to tell any moderators over here to let him in. I, along with all the other moderators, don't have any control over that. It's only Sarah, who I have a ton of brochures sent to right now, so I think she's pretty busy. Tell Bugbite just to hold on.

I figured when Sarah got around to it she would "let him in".....so I guess he'll have to wait until she does......I know I had to wait also!!!!

Glad I'm in now

Hey I resemble all of those remarks except change he into she.
I am married to an engineer and if anyone knows these creatures intimately you will know why I have to ask so many questions

Still wondering what is going to be done on the 12 yr. roof warranty

Has that baby been thrown out with the wash water on the closing?
Getting resistance here on that point.

Also what kind of pin connector for brake and light interface?

7 pin flat or 8 pin round for the 1950

7 round pin connector on the 1950. You wont find a better trailer than the Sunline. The only thing that is of the same quality is an Airstream. I know I looked and all the rest of the stuff out there is junk. THESE TRAILERS ARE BUILT WELL, VERY WELL. THEY USED QUALITY PARTS AND HAVE GOOD WORKMANSHIP. I own a 1950 and am very happy with it. You can buy a Airsteam Safari 20' which has the same layout for about $37000. As for the warranty there isnt one. Let see you pay 13500 for a Sunline or 37000 for an Airstream. Hum same quality 23500 in my pocket. You can a buy lots of parts and service with that. Or since the Sunline wont need any work take a lot of trips. Take the engineer to Rv lot an look around . A keen eye will spot the quality in these trailers. Parts for RV's are off the shelf, they are all made by subcontractors. They are not like your Toyota.

Parts is Parts

Hey Nickster!

I am not in disagreement w/ you.

Have you taken a look at even your F150? Noticed the amount of parts of it that come from subcontractors, contractors Mexican and Canadian?

The Tundra is made in this country. The new Tundras with the 5.7 engines and drive trains are made in mostly Alabama but some in Missouri. The bodies and most parts US suppliers. The labor in Indiana or California to assemble. Luckily the engines and drive trains of the 2002 V-8 4.7s come off the boat. The V-8 4.7s are Lexus engines long proven for dependability.

Not to mention those of you with diesel GMs the engine is made by Isuzu in Japan.

Ford, GM, and Dodge must buy engines from other makers like Cummins, International Harvestor, and Isuzu.

So anyone have a 100 percent built by 1 company anymore? Nope.

Too bad Tundras haven't gotten to 3/4 tons and 1 tons diesels. But if they do likely they would go with the Isuzu industrial grade like GM is using.

I have to say it is very hard for any American made (including probably Tundra new 5.7) to outlast a Jap job engine off the boat like my DH's old 1 Ton lil Toyota of old, my Toyota Corolla, and our Toyota 4 Runner. No doubt unless we trade off just for grins we will be cremated in ours rather than be buried in a box.

The old adage... the last xxxx we'll ever need LOL!

I am so glad your 1/2 Ton and 1950 work well together. Just what I want... keep our cherry Tundra and get a 1950.

Our Tundra may be equal to your F150 in towing power but wanna drag race? Our Tundra would leave yours in the dust. LOL!

You missed the point totally.
A rv sink is a rv sink it is used in many differant brands and models. A stove is a stove and used in many models. The parts for your truck arent interchangable with the parts from my truck. Most RV parts are.
As for the trucks the Tundra is a nice truck. Dont really care where it is made. There is a differance between the two . My truck is a work edition truck. Tranny cooler, large radiator heavy springs, heavy duty alternator 7 pin harness class 4 hitch. It pulls trailers everyday. That is what it is set up to do

Points well taken

Actually the amount of part suppliers no matter the brand of truck and car are becoming fewer and fewer. So you might be surprised that the Tundra may have some of the same parts. Certainly interchangeable w/ after markets.

Yes I understand the sink is a sink concept too.

Yes, your truck could definitely outpull ours but I still contend our Tundra can beat you in a race. But then that isn't what counts here on this board. Our Tundra is easier on gas and we don't pull that often.

Out of curiousity why didn't you get at least a 250 or even a 350 diesel if you are pulling a trailer (I assume for work)?

Again to each their own. We have some options that may help in towing too but not as good as your "heavy" as in good for pulling 150.
