pex fitting broken

Hi everyone.
Well, after much waiting, my new 2005 2075 trailer is out camping!
But after sitting unused for 5 years, she has a few bugs in need of fixing.
I decided to get the on board water system ready for July 4th.
Thank Goodness my wife was not present for the three hours of mistakes!
Where was the dang water leaking from? A sink trap was removed by last owner for winter storage.
Then the fill hose connection rotted, no prob, cut out the bad section.
Energized the system. listen. ah,pump pressure good, and then... bad???
I opened the knife drawer under the sink, only to find it full of water.
A pex elbow to the faucet broke.
I went online and found a product called shark bite that seems to be an easier repair than pex.

Does anyone have any thoughts, advice, insults, etc, ?
Thank God for small problems.
Im loving this camper
Thanks

shark bite is a fix and many have used them in place of pex.

Sunline also used a product called Flairit which fits 1/2 pex but does not use the stainless crimps or copper crimp rings

Amazon sells them and other places. Scroll down until you see the 1/2" elbow you are looking for
https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...l_806zbhd0gq_e

Here is the their web site Flair-It | The Best in Pex Fittings for Over 25 Years

Good luck and hope this helps

John

Thanks Johnb
That is very helpful! That will make for a quick repair.
I don't think the original fitting failed due to age. I think the installer made the plastic tubing too long. I think it stressed the fitting. The cold water fitting is missing a plastic grip ear as well. The original owner was a perfectionist. I doubt he would have anything not 100%, it would have made him crazy.
Thanks for the quick response.
Chris

Hi Chris,

You welcome.

And good news your prior owner was was a perfectionist! That means they gave TLC to your camper. Many times that is not the case sadly...

Happy camping this year

John
