I don't think so Air Stream's are not painted. Driving upside down might be.

Tim,

I was eating some mac & cheese when reading your reply....yes it caused me to spit some of it out. That really made my day!

Manolozam,

Please forgive me. Some of us try to inject a little humor now and then.

As Tim said Air Stream is unpainted aluminum. DMV could most likely be a good source as it may vary from state to state.

Welcome to the forum and feel free to ask any question. There are some very friendly and knowledgeable people here that generally can answer your questions.

But, one thing about an Airstream is that all the panels are curved which disperses the reflection over a wide area. The flat surfaces on a Sunline might cause a blinding effect since they're flat. But then again, I've seen tractor trailers with some pretty reflective surfaces.

Well I don't know they are fairly flat on the sides and there are plenty of utility trailers with no paint and then there is all ways a Delorian!

Highly polished 18 wheeler rear doors? I'd go for it.

There is no law anywhere in the Pennsylvania state inspection book that says a polished finish is grounds for not issuing a state safety sticker on either a trailer or motor vehicle.

Airstream, deloreans, tankers, boats, airplanes, motorcycles are some I know with a Brite finish. There is now a paint system that will spray out a almost identical chrome look and they even offer candy chrome colors. So I wouldnt worry lol. I like the looks of yours. But right side up lol.

And I wouldn't paint it. Unless you are worried about corrosion. Maybe prime it and have it vinyl wrapped? I am having my 82 cutlass done this way. They have candys, chrome lol, camouflage, and whatever you can think of. My car is rust free and will be driven at road course tracks so a fancy paint job I don't want but I am sick of flatblack and other cheap paint jobs. Just a thought

Just curious, how does a whole car wrap compare with a re-paint?

Well when you consider time, materials, time..., materials. Environmental issues?

Alot in my opinion. I did paint and auto body for many yrs and tape, plastic, paper, solvents, base coat, clear coat, strainers, mixing cups, tack cloth, wax and degreaser, oh mixing sticks.... waste.... it all adds up!!! Just to paint my one bike a few yrs ago cost 1300. And that's just a plain paint job with no fancy stuff.

So figure you can add graphics like flames, racing checkered flag pattern, sponsored logos, crazy early 90s funky stripes and the durability of a vinyl wrap verses paint is even better. There is also a choice of mill thickness you can get as well. So to me a wrap for a race, toy car hell even a weekend offroader sounds better then a finish I will cringe every time someone goes near.

A company near me does signs and said a truck/van wrap starts out at 500 and up. So even if I spend 900 I am still doing good.

Thanks, that is an interesting alternative in some cases.
