How do I install a weingard antenna

r
Recently I purchased a 1985 Sunline model T1661 that did not have a TV antenna. I have a used Weingard (sensor) crank up antenna that I would like to install, but I don't know if there is a spot on the roof that is reinforced to properly support the antenna. If anyone has any information were the antenna should be located I would appreciate your response.

I wish I could help you out. Myself, I'd be afraid to penetrate the roof and would hire an expert, a dealer maybe. Good luck.

An idea would be to use a stud finder to locate all the roof braces.I just purchased a 1992 T1550 and it has no antenna so i'll be trying out that method when i pick it up in April as i plan on putting an antenna on it.

Hi Ironglide,

Since you have a 1992, is it a rubber roof? If so the stud finder "might" work.

I do not know on your however many of the newer one have the roof rafters on 16" centers. If it is a rubber roof, between feeling inside pushing gently up and up top pressing gently down I have been able to find the rafters. When you find 1 or 2, then using a tape measure the rest fall in place. Inside look for a cieling panel seam. That can be a good indicator a rafter in in that location.

Welcome to Sunline Owners Club and good luck with your camper.

John

I would think there would be a mounting block somewhere between the rafters as an antenna mount probably doesn't reac all the way across a pair of rafters.
I'm hoping to maybe find all that info within the original paperwork that came with this trailer when it was new as it is still in the trailer but it's a 2 1/2 hr drive so i'll have to wait untill i pick it up.

Hang it in a window and forget poking holes in a perfectly good roof.
