Help finding rear light covers

Hi all, on a windy, gusty day recently, I was replacing a bulb on my rear tail light, when the red plastic cover blew out of my hand and broke apart. I have the T1850. Saturn. This tail light indicates brakes, blinker and flashers and lights license plate.

Any suggestions for replacement?

thanks Kit

Hi Kit,

Can you post a pic of the other tail light? And is it the one with the licence plate or without? Each is a different lens. The license plate light has a clear section on the bottom to light up the plate while the right side does not.

Sunline changed style along the way and I do not know what year they changed. Square and round where part of the change

Our 2004 units have the rounded corners like this.

My round corner ones are the Bargmen series 92

Here is just a hit on Amazon on the 92 series. Make sure to get the correct lens, with or without the licence plate. They sell the entire light or just the lens

You also didn't mention what year your trailer is. That would help identify what kind of tail light fixtures it would likely have. The model number really doesn't matter for items like this since the same fixtures were installed on pretty much the entire Sunline product line in any given year.

To add to JohnB's info, almost any RV parts counter will have or be able to order lens covers for RV tail lights. Take the pieces of the broken one with you or snap a pic of the remaining good one so they can identify it.

These fixtures were used throughout the RV industry. You may find it helpful not to mention the brand of trailer because many parts counter workers will automatically say "No." if you tell them it's on a Sunline. I know that sounds stupid, but it's how things are.

My '99 had Bargman 34-92 series tail lights. To the best of my knowledge, they were used throughout the product line right up until Sunline closed in 2007. That series of lights was popular throughout the RV industry. My 2011 Cougar has the identical fixtures.

If your trailer is newer than '99 and has different tail lights, then the replacement covers are certainly readily available.

If you don't live near an RV dealer, but can identify the part, Ebay is an excellent source of these parts, and many times they are less expensive than purchasing direct from a dealer.

Post a pic here and we should be able to identify what you've got.

Thanks John, I posted photos of the tail lights. I shopped last night at e trailer and didn't see an exact match. Thanks for your help all. I love this forum. My camper is in Arizona, I left it down there for some alignment, wheel bearings and brand new tires too!

Here ya go, it's a PM light. $16 for a light ain't bad either!

https://www.amazon.com/Peterson-Manu...6M5X3M2FYD8519

They used the square taillights up until 1992, then converted to this style light in 1993, and used it through 1995 or early 1996. It was short lived. Then the current round style #92 series Bargman started sometime in 1996, through the end of production.

That said, the #92 Bargman will replace the Peterson light, it's just a tiny bit smaller. I did this on both of my '94s, because my crazy self was trying to clone the '97. They require new holes but the old ones will be completely covered. But they are certainly different enough that you'd need to replace both if you went this route.

Thanks for the quick investigation on the PM tail light. I wonder if I can find a source for just the cover without buying the whole lamp/light

You'll want to make sure to get this "L" version since it has the clear part on the bottom for the license plate.

As long as your tabs aren't broken, it's fine to keep the base. But so often the plastic gets brittle and the tabs break. Or in the case of the plate one, the license plate mounting tabs break off.

Poke around EBay. I searched using the key words: RV tail light

There were several listings for that light. There may just the lens offerings.

I also found a listing for a left and right Bergman 92's complete fixtures for under $20 for both.

Thanks for your help. The cover just arrived and it's perfect. For about $5.

Nice.

Hello,

I need 2 yellow markers, 1 red marker and one taillight for the Right Side. Anyone know the name/type so I can google to find them?

I have the pictures loaded in my Albums. I don't have a hosting site to post them too since Photobucket decided to drop all 3rd party hosting without payment.

Hello JJ,

I have an 87 and I replaced mine with these that I got from Amazon. The screw holes matched up perfectly. These are amber but red are also available.

Great!
I was looking at these on eBay. The ones you bought are "99" also, so I think these LED's will work.
