Fridge replacement

Unfortunately, I have to replace the fridge in my 1985 T2100. I'm kinda bummed, but the poor fridge has seen more use than it can handle. The fridge still works quite well, but the door will just not seal or stay shut any longer. Even a 3 day outing has ice build up all over the thing. This fridge is better suited for another project of mine where I can make sure the door is better supported, but more on that later.

Good news is I have a replacement fridge at the ready, still installed in a parts trailer.

Bad news is that my husband is in charge of the repair, and unsure of how to proceed. He says that he can only find 2 screws holding the fridge in, and he knows I'll clobber him if he mangles the camper when he removes the unit.

Does anyone here have any experience replacing one of these Dometic units? Any photos or advice? (And yes, I will clobber husband if he decides to yank and pull and sawzall until it comes out!)

Thanks all,
Jen

Not sure of refrig., Dometic or Norcold, you have but here is a video about replacing cooling unit on a Dometic but it also shows how to remove refrig.

Jen,

most models are similar, but my best guess is...

http://gasrefrigeration.net/dom_tech...300_2800OP.PDF

page 6 shows an install diagram

on my 87 Dometic RM-2400, there are 4-6 screws around inside frame, and 2 at the rear lower corners.
lp gas line ( 2 wrenches needed !) unplug 120 from outlet, and maybe 2 12volt wires. then it was tight to the cabinet, just work it, There should be a silicone seal under unit( Below controls) to the wood to seal any lp gas / air / ants /uncles from coming in.

the other refer needs to seal to the interior, very important while using lp gas, no CO !
You said it works? is the gasket or hinge bad? what model do you have?

Wow!

Thanks so much for the replies. That video is AWESOME!!!!

Most of the reason that I need to replace the fridge is that the door on mine actually seems to be warped. It just won't stay shut tight, even with the lock. We've tried everything, but considering that we have a spare fridge in the parts camper, we'll just swap out the unit. Both units are Dometic and do appear to be the same size.
