Fridge Question

We now have the 1995 T2670 on site and working. Since power is so intermittent (3 hours per day) we're running the fridge on gas 90% of the time. However since we are plugged into shore power the fridge does cut over to AC when it senses it. So now the question....when we lose the AC and the Fridge tries to switch to GAS the CHECK light comes on every time. I can clear it easily by hitting the on/off switch and then on again. Light is out and the fridge works fine on gas. This is OK as long as I'm around to hit the switch. However I leave for days at a time and can't always be around to clear the check light.

So what's up? Bad ignition? Bad CHECK light? If I can clear the light simply by turning off the fridge it would seem to indicate the ignition system is fine.

Does the CHECK light really mean the igniter is not working?

I have tried to run the Fridge on the manual setting (no auto light but the on switch depressed) but the unit still seems to sense the AC and I still get the CHECK light. My older 85 Sunline had a very defined AC/GAS switch and it was one or the other unless manually switched. This new unit does not seem to offer that same flexibility, unless I'm wrong.

Any ideas?? I'd love to run it on gas exclusively but it seems if I'm plugged in at all the unit is going to see the AC.

Thanks
Al

Gene is an unknown quantity at this point
I have a Dometic RM2652.
I have had it happen sometimes when I have it in auto, the gas doesn't fire the first time sometimes. I can not recall it doing that in "gas only" mode when I unplug the AC. My "check" light ONLY comes on when the gas fails to fire up although I had it come on when the gas flame was too low to keep the box cold. The sensor on mine is above the flame.

Low flame:

Good flame: (sensor is heated red)

I want to know about this situation, too. My fridge is a Dometic RM2612.

Thanks,
Wright
