Custom bedding?

According to the brochure that the original owner put into a binder, my Solaris 2653 should've had a regular (double) bed in the rear bedroom with walking space on three sides. However mine has a mattress sitting on a platform that measures 60X72 inches and is placed into the left rear corner leaving floor space at the foot and front side.
Is this a factory installation or has a PO made a modification?

I believe someone made a mod. Your bed should be 54 x 74. There is not a lot of room to walk around a "walkaround". On my 1997 T2363, there is only about a foot (if that) between the far side of the bed and the back wall. The previous owner must have wanted a wider bed and moved it to the back in order to gain 6 inches. I have hit my head on the corner of the shirt closet when getting up if I am at the edge, I certainly wouldn't want to be directly under it.

That sure looks like a mod. Sunline most likely had the mattress centered on the window.

And yes like Dona stated, walk around is a relative term but you can "get around" verses "crawl over"

Just curious, is the nightstand, or part of it, still underneath the mattress? You should be able to see holes on the wall from where it was attached if it's all gone.

My poor ol' Solaris is in an open storage lot at the moment. No electricity is available.
I found a place close to my house to bring the trailer for work (in the shade). I had to boogie out pretty quick yesterday as the interior temp was 92 at 8 a.m.

There is particle board from the front-side night stand all the way into the far corner so the back-side night stand is gone. (At least the part above bed level is.)

I'll investigate further when the heatwave here in Virginia subsides.
I'll keep y'all posted.

Sunline made many custom mods as required by purchasers when the units were built. Mine was ordered with a standard size queen bed vs the smaller trailer size queen. If it looks like it was done by the factory it may have been. If you're seeing particle board it was likely the PO.

Agree on the particle board deal. Sunline prided themselves from I was told that no particle board was used. However OSB board is everywhere….

Particle board is like saw dust glued together. Very dense, very heavy and strong in compression but not great in tension. When damp it's not good...

OSB board is Oriented Strand Board. Big chips of wood chopped up and glued together in a stranded pattern that is claimed to be stronger. It is lighter and stronger in both compression and tension I “think” then particel board . This board does not like water either.

Okey-dokey, it is factory. The platform of OSB is made into the corner. Two-thirds of the platform lifts on gas struts to reveal the storage underneath and provide access to the water pump and water heater. This storage is also acessed from the hatch on the street side.

I replaced the 3 factory hinges (they were pulling loose) with a heavy-duty piano hinge. I plan to insulate the bottom of the platform for cold-weather camping.
