VW

Now that's a hoot. We've own a VW and if I could find a trailer like that I'd buy one and another VW. Our 1966 bug had only 44HP. I guess it shows that it doesn't take much to tow a trailer.

At the time we bought our VW we had a Mustang and had bought a house on a hill. The first day we moved in it snowed and that Mustang could not make it up the hill. We went out and bought a 1966 VW the next day. I swear that thing could climb a tree.

The mileage the VW gets is interesting, 18-20 MPG. We do at least as well towing our Sunline with our Honda.

I didn't detect the brand of the trailer. If any one has ever seen one please let me know.

Happy trails,

One thought I had while watching the various 360's .........how many knots there would be in the trailer wires (I would think you would have to disconnect them before a 360 took place)

I would also think that the intial wiring of the tow vehicle would be a bear

But, it is a neat concept.

Folks.......

I actually got to see one of those things (early '70s). The trailer was the original Shadowcruiser model (they went out of business, as did a more conventional Shadowcruiser version from the '90s).
You had to have a LOT of faith in the strength of your rain gutters, as well.
We were RVing in a Scotty Highlander at the time.

You've had me thinking about this concept for the past few hours of driving along the North Carlinal coast now

What if you were to build something like for a Jeep WY or something that has a pretty strong roll cage bolted to the frame?

I was also thinking what if you were to throw a set of axles under a slide-in truck camper that would be lifted enough to work like this. Obviously you'd have to have a pretty stout frame built to haul the entire rig, but boy would you turn some heads!!

I'll keep jotting down my ideas as if my ADD isnt bad enough already. Please DONT post things like this anymore!!!...LOL

What do we want?

It seems most people are really looking for a true home on wheels. Many of the Rvs one sees on the road are really bigger than homes were in the 1940's and '50s, hence the huge trucks required to pull them.

We are now in Florida and parked between large rigs, we could fit in many slide outs or toy hauler rooms. Yet we are more than satisfied with no nest to shop for, no fuel prices to worry about.

We still search for the ideal small trailer knowing it will not be made because we are the odd birds and represent too small a market.
