Battery Monitor

I currently have no way to monitor the amount of charge in my battery. Any suggestions for a device to measure the amount charge left in battery?
I would even settle for an accurate way to measure it with a multimeter. I'm not sure what I should measuring or what high or low values would be. Volts, amps, I'm just not sure? I'm no expert with a multimeter, but I'm getting better!

Thanks!

Hi Scott

I added one of these Voltminders. It has an alarm that can be set as well. You can keep an eye on your convertor and the battery when the there is no shore power attached.

This post has the convertor upgrade and it has a link to the Voltminder and where I bought it. Power Convertor Upgrade

If you have a digital volt meter, yes you can use this too.

For what volts are what charge percent, see this web site. The 12 volt side of life part 1 It also has a lot of other good info in it.

And see this part 2, The 12 volt side of life part 2 It talks about invertors which you asked on in your other post.

Good luck and hope this helps.

John

Oh this is all very nice info. Again, thank you. Is the Voltminder really that easy? You just connect it to any 12 volt receptical? Cool. Nice price too.

It comes with a cigarette lighter style plug on the end. If you have one of those style outlets, check by the TV in your coach, then yes it will plug right in.

I cut my plug off and hard-wired it in only because of where I put it there was no cigarette style receptacle

So far I am very pleased with it. The only issue I have is my grandson likes to push the buttons on it when they come camping with us. He is just the right height…. But the both grand kids do that on the radio too...

Good luck

John
