awning

I just purchased a 1350. This is my first camper. I will be spending the summer in this little guy and I think I will need an awning. Budget is limited. Any advice on where to buy a used one, or other good options for shade?

Check Facebook Marketplace. People sell popup shelters of different sizes all the time for good prices. I've big 10x20 party tents for less than $200. You just need room to store them as opposed to a roll out awning, which is fairly expensive to have professionally installed.

Another option, especially for such a small trailer, is a bag awning. These are commonly installed on pop ups and are much easier to find used. The awning stores in a zippered back on the side of the trailer (slides in the channel), and when you unroll the fabric, you use a series of poles and ropes to put up the awning. The down side is it isn't self supporting, you do need to stake it out to the ground. But since it attaches to the trailer, it will keep rain away from the door way- any temporary shelter you can only put up next to the trailer, and rain can drip down between it and the trailer.

We purchased a new bag awing for our popup when we bought it. It was made by Carefree of Colorado their Campout series, and is very nice. Is has the option of being self supporting with brackets to mount to the side of the camper or you can stake the poles to the ground. All the poles are hinged to the main awing bar and make it easy to self store everything in the bag. You may need a small ladder or step stool depending on your camper height to unzip it. We paid abot $300 for one 10 years ago.
