1996 Sunline 2670 Purchase

Hi

I am new to this club, I am in the process of purchaseing 1996 26ft Sunline Travel Trailer. The only thing that seems to be worng is the refridgerator is acting up. It is turning on and sounds like it is running, but not getting cool.

What are your thoughts? I believe we are getting a great deal, and to me it is not a deal breaker, just trying to get advice. This will be our first camper, we are so excited

Thank you for your time

Tracy

Hi Tracy!

Welcome to the SOC!!

I'm not sure what fridge you have, but RV units don't make much more than maybe some clicking sounds. If you could get a make/model, that would be very helpful. Also, if it is a RV fridge, it would take several hours to get cold. They don't work like residential units do. They do not have compressors.

Hi Tracy,

Welcome to the group and congrats on your Sunline purchase. Your fridge will take "several" hours before you will begin to notice any sign of it cooling down. If you can just leave it on overnight and check it tomorrow to see if it has cooled down.

Did you happen to notice any smell coming from the fridge, "if" the cooling unit is shot you will notice the smell of ammonia. You can also remove the outside panel that will let you see the rear of the fridge, "if" you see any yellow powder it is also a sign that your cooling unit is shot.

BUT, try letting it run for 18 -24 hours it see if it cools down.

Chances are that it just needs time to cool down.

Kitty

Hi..I always put a jug of water in mine to give it "something to work on"....helps speed it up.Also you might check to see if it is on the gas setting or the electric--one or the other could be bad...***Very important--do you have the battery installed? It has to have a DC power source! Good luck..and enjoy! Janalee

Thank you everyone. I actually don't have the camper yet, at my house. Once i will do I will check everything you all mentioned. The seller was the one that tole me that it doesn't get cold, that you can hear it run, etc. I will keep you posted and I am sure I will have more questions.

Thanks again
