1993 T-1550 brakes

I'm looking to purchase a 1993 T-1550 that is a considerable distance from me. One question before I go to inspect it. The owner said that the TT doesn't have brakes, but from what I've read, it sounds like they did have brakes installed. So definitively, were all T-1550 TTs equipped with trailer brakes? It makes a difference as to which tow vehicle I drive down to see it.

Thanks for the info.

I believe they all were, as long as the 1550 was around. They may not have at some point earlier on well before the 1550 was ever conceived. But by 1993, they certainly did. In fact, since it's newer than 1987, it has the larger 14" wheels too.

In my case with our 1988 T-1350, it originally came with electric brakes and at some point later it had a surge brake coupling welded on, suggesting that it had hydraulic brakes at one point. The guy I bought it from replaced the axle with a "no-brake" variety a year or so ago. So now I have a surge brake coupling and an axle with no brakes.

The T-1550 could have had the axle replaced like ours did. If you have a choice of TV, I would err on the side of caution and pretend he's right - that there are no brakes on the TT.
