Now that looks like a cooling coil.

Try running the unit and I'll bet it cools quicker and colder. To double check the need for any extra cooling during warm/hot outside temps simply prop open the outside access door. If it cools better then go to the trouble of fans for moving cooling air across the coil. Until then just go camping and enjoy, if cleaning the coil fixed your problem.

Looking good now up top. That will for sure help the cause.

A comment to the fan blowing up thru that area, for sure it makes a difference.

Here is my install: http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...fan-10679.html

And here is EMAN's http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...tion-9190.html

They should install one on every fridge from the factory. And Dometic knows this helps as they have them on the really higher up units

John, I really liked the 'fuse holder'. Simple, small and economical. My kind of fix.

I wonder if anyone has figured how many CFM is needed for improved cooling.

Jim, I know a computer fan will work just fine too. Do not know the actual cfm.

But Dometic uses 2 muffin fans on a really big unit. See here

I took those pic's at the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart IN. Dometic had a product display and that fridge looked like a normal full size kitchen home fridge. So on our much smaller fridges 1 fan for sure creates enough draft to really help.

This is a worth while upgrade.

John

PS the fuse holder, well the original Valterra kit had no fuse at all. And if that thin wire ever shorted it would become the fuse as the power supply is like 15 amps I think. So a simple crimp connector plug and a 1 or 2 amp fuse works just fine.

John, The fans look to be like power supply fans. I think most coputers have three fans, the cabinet fan, the chip fan and the power supply fan. I've stripped down so many now that I have boxes full of them out in the garage. Also picked up a 110V fan from a air hockey game. Even if I have to use multiple fans the cost would be what seals the deal.

I'm a scrounger. I ride around on garbage day and pickup stuff that I can reuse or haul off for recycling. The 'if it's free, it's for me' is a good motto. I reuse everything I can and even if I have to wait for free parts, I do.

We do yard sales with our 'free' garbage also. Well, we have in the past. It is getting to be more werk than we can handle.

Yes, they look exactly like them and odds are, they are the same ones. I know the old power converter I had had 2 in it and they are the same thing.

I can tell ya, when the bearings go in these things, the term cement mixer fits perfectly to describe what happens in the middle of the night

I have a box full of them and my wife's computer sounds like the cement mixer you mentioned. That is on my honey do list.

I'm anxious to try the processor fan inside the fridge. Everyone says that makes as much difference inside the fridge as others do on the outside.

I hope Patrick gets some good weather and that snow melts soon so he can let us know how his works now or if there is still more technical stuff to do.

Haha, it almost sounds like you want there to be more technical stuff! How will you provide power to the cpu fan on the inside of the fridge? Will they run on DC or AC?

Never want there to be more werk but since this will be a learning experience, and on your dime, whatever! LOL!

The computer fans run on 12V DC. I haven't checked to see how the wires are run, yet. Once closer to doing the deed I'll check. No need to clog the brain and then have to retrain myself before doing something.

You tap into the light switch and put a switch on the fan as I have seen others do. I use battery operated fans in there now but may some day add the 12 vdc fan.

Here are my Camco fans.

These move more air then the blue Valterra ones. The only issue with the Camco is taking the back cover off when not camping. I went to a velro strap and now have no more issues.

The little fan on the inside help too.

John

We go camping about every other weekend or at lesat we want to if work will let me.... We can get about 3 maybe 4 months out of them. Which is good for a small battery running in 32 to 34 def F temps.

I do take the batteries out each trip. There is no off switch

I know I put batteries in at least once a year but some times 2 worst case 3 which I cannot remember ever doing 3.

They work well enough that the mod to install the muffin fan is way down the list. I did get a large benifit from the fan in the outside vent stack. That one I wish I did years sooner once I found how well that works.

I just bought a 1991 Sunline Solaris. I'm very new to the camper world and I have lots of questions. Hopefully someone can answer some of them. First, I'm not familiar with the LP/electric frindge. When I run the refrigerator using electric there is a spot of condensation directly under the fridge. Is this normal? Second. How many gallons of Antifreeze should I put in the holding tanks?

Hi Jburrell2

Welcome to Sunline Owners Club. Glad you found us and congrats on your new coach.

On our site, up top, there is a "files" tab. Click the tab. In there are manuals for most all appliances. Here is a hot link. Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files

Now to the condensation, Where is the condensation specifically? On the floor inside, in the compartment outside, sweat on the face of the fridge under the door gasket etc?

If we know more where you are seeing the puddle we can help point better to what it might be. It may be as simple as a leaking door seal but again, need more info to help better.

Antifreeze in holding tanks. Normally you do not have to put antifreeze in any large qty in a holding tank. There are 3 tanks on the camper, the Fresh tank for fresh water. This one should not get any anti freeze. The black tank for the toilet. This one may end up getting a little by default when you pour some in the toilet up top. The gray tank. This is the one the sink and shower drains go to. This one ends up getting some by run over when you fill the traps with anti freeze.

All tanks should be drained totally out. If the black or grey end up with some anti freeze then that is OK. I avoid the fresh tank with anti freeze because it takes so darn long to ever flush the stuff out.

Here are a few posts on winterizing. After reading and you still have questions, ask away

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...50-a-8601.html

And here is one from our FAQ forum. Winterizing is the first topic http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f1...nks-11910.html

Hope this helps and good luck with your new camper

John
