1989 T2250 Questions

I'm looking to buy an 1989 t2250. The camper is in good condition for its age. from the looks of it the camper has never leaked and all the lights work. the questions I have is about the LP stuff. whats the best way to test it. the owner don't know how to work it. (she got it in a divorce). and the A\C you have to spin the fan then cut in on for it to work. she asking 1,500. I am very handy and don't mind working on it my self. do yall think its worth 1,500. and best way to test LP

This post may help on the LP items to test for leaks.

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...cks-10981.html

If they have not been fired/used in lots of years, they may take some getting them going OR not. Mud daubers can create a mud nest in the outside areas. They can be taken apart and cleaned up and back working again in many cases.

There manuals for most of all the appliances on line. And some have service manuals.

If they have not been used in a real long time, I myself would check them out first for bees damage, rust etc before trying to fire them up on the units that have an outside access, Fridge, hot water heater and furnace.

On the cost, that is always a topic of what is too much and what is not. Here is a place to start as a guide.

http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/1989/S...4063194/Values

If there are things that do not work, then less is to be expected. But that at least gets you in the ball park. Tires are a thing to look at. Age is the best thing to look for. There is a DOT date code you can see the mfg date. You are not looking for tread depth as a main indication but more cracks in the rubber and how old they are. Worst is, you need 5 new tires (there part is the 5th)

As long as there is no water damage or signs of prior water repairs, getting the appliances going may not be that bad. The fridge may be the most iffy. As long as the coil on the back is not ruptured, it stands a chance to come back to life. When leaks happens in the tubing it leaves yellowish reside some times. But if it has not been used in lot of years, I do not know if the yellowish film will still exist. Worst case, you can put a dorm fridge in. Many have.

Hope this helps

John

Sunline

Damn, that thing looks like new. Someone took real good care of it. If you feel the price is right just buy it. If you don't, it will be gone fast.

😀😀

Congrats on your new camper!

For the age, it looks in good shape from the pics just like you said. WOW

Amazing how the decals can stay so good looking on the older campers. The newer ones do not last like the old ones.

Have fun and wishing you many happy memories in your new Sunny.

John

The a/c fan motor is going bad and I'm going to take out the hot water heater for a Electric one. It's under the bunk where my kids will sleep and with it being so old I don't see it being safe. I have to do a axel flip to.

I would get another dual propane/electric HW heater. It's good to have back up if you lose power or are camping without hookups. The new on demand HW heaters are nice and offer unlimited hot water. Saw used units for around $250. They are propane only though.
