12v lights and fan pulse when when plugged in 30amp

Hello,
I have a 2006 solaris T-2075. I have 2 deep cycle batteries hooked to the camper. I am wondering if anyone knows why my lights get bright and the exhaust fan speeds up for no apparent reason. My camper is plugged into a 30amp receptacle with no large draw except fridge and tv. The lights will randomly get bright for about 10 secs. and then go to normal, the fan will speed up at the same time. This will happen on occasion throughout the night. Could this be a problem with the power converter?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to thank you in advance for any help.

Chris

Where is this power coming from, i.e. a campground, home, etc.? Do you know if you have a voltage regulator in your camper or just the converter? It sounds like you may be getting uneven voltage.

I'm new to this TT stuff so others will be able to better help, however in the mean time try to give as much information as possible esp. where the line source is, any regulators or not, any surge suppression protection, model of converter, etc.

Is this the lights and fan doing this on the shore power or on the battery power? Is your tv a AC/DC, AC only or DC only? Have you tried just running your lights and fan on just the DC power with the shore power disconnected? What happens if you do?

It could be your converter or there could be a problem with the voltage to trailer. Camp ground I was at during high 90's temps had voltage as low as 95 ac and that caused problems with all the sites. I would check what voltage you have from your what you are plugged into. A cheap multimeter is a good item to have on board.

I will check power source with a meter the next time it happens again. That is a good place to start.
Thanks. Chris

Interesting. How long has this been going on? Is it possible that your power company has been cutting back on it's voltage output at night? They will do that, which will usually just cause a little dimming of house lights, etc. which will often go unnoticed by home owner.

I would start checking all my connections. Loose connections. Bad or loose ground. Corrosion on battery. All could cause intermittent power pulses.

Thanks for the come back. Usually the converter works right or it fails totally. The only time I have seen the problem you have had has had to do with the ac supply.

Seems it's all in the 12 volt systems acting up. I'd start there.
Have you tried running these items on just battery. No shore power to see if you get these surges. That would take the converter in or out of the equation.

Get ready to replace it. That is exactly what mine did for about six months before it finally went out altogether. I replaced mine with a Progressive Dynamics convertor, dropped right in place of the old one, and has been working great ever since.
