Unhappy 07 2363 Solaris water leak left front compartment

Hello Cleaning out left front exterior storage compartment and noticed wet carpet and spongy floor. OH NO! lifted carpet and found rotted floor about a 1 foot square section. Removed rotted floor and inspected floor joists. I feel easy fix but need advice on finding source of leak. Purchased new and am sick! I feel leaking a long time to do this damage. Mine is minor compared to some I have read on this forum. I need to check awning supports also. Any advice? Lifted felt liner around compartment door and stains evident on lip but no rot. Rot concentrated left front corner and up about 6 inches on wall supporting joists. Thank you

bsmith,
On my 2363 I did have problem with the weather strip leaking around the front cargo doors. These are the doors that access storage under the front couch. Yours is newer so you may have the larger door on the street side. Best way to check these is to put a light inside at night, if you see light through cracks, you will get water. Front window could be a source of water too. As always check roof seams and seals. Pay particular attention to the TV antenna, I remember re caulking that a few times. Good luck.

I have seen the newer T2363's and they do have a nice very large cargo hole door.

That would be the 1st thing to prove out it is or is not it. If the door does not compress the rubber seal well even when not locked with the key, just the twister knob, then water can get it. I had it happened on mine I was just lucky I caught it the day it happened so I could dry it back out.

Also look at the corner molding sealant. Water flying out of the gutter on the roof beating into that seam can force a small leak to the inside.

Best of luck to you.

John

Just bought a 2003 T 2053 and found rotting floor in same place. While I was fixing, I noticed that the cargo door did not seem to seal tightly. The locking lever was installed the wrong way! Quick fix with a screw driver and the door seals fine. What a shame that the damage was caused by such a simple (stupid) mistake. Most likely at manufacturing plant.

Heads up to those following along, that screw that holds the locking lever does come loose over time. It may have fell off by a prior owner, they never realized it and put it on wrong.

As you have found, it will fit 2 ways. The right way holds the door tight, the wrong way, not so tight .

Point: Anyone with a wiggly cargo door, heads up! This is a water issue waiting to happen.
