Hitch locks tripods?

How does one go about bracing and locking a sunline with the inverted hitch?

I am thinking of buying a 18.5' model and this question came to mind.

Larry,

What do you mean by inverted hitch? Do you mean a gooseneck fifth wheel?

The old sunlines have the fifth wheel on the trailer and the pin is mounted to the bed of the pickup.

Hi Larry,

I believe those couplers have a locking lever that fold down to latch the trailer to the ball. They should have a hole in there to put a pin style lock through.

As for a tripod, I don't think you could use a standard style tripod like people with traditional fifth wheels can. I think it will be too tall. You will have to probably build something yourself. You may consider some scissor jacks on the four corners of the unit, since the 18' models only have a single front jack post.

Jon

Thanks for your help. I will just need to buy a padlock and four alum screw jacks.

No problem! I think a typical padlock will be too fat to fit through the hole though.

This is the kind of thing I had in mind:
