Tires and receiver ball size?

We’re going to look at a Que tomorrow. Looks like tires might need replaced.

Can someone enlighten me on recommended tire size or point in the right direction to check out the size PLUS need to make sure we have the right ball size for towing.

Need to be prepared, just Incase?

Tires are ST205/75/R15 load range C. They came with nice aluminum wheels from the factory, so I would recommend buying just tires for it and not buying a tire/wheel combo.

The original tires are Mission brand, so if that's what's on there, they definitely need to be replaced.

Ball size should be 2 5/16, but hopefully a Que owner (or former owner) can confirm. I doubt it's 2", they pretty much moved away from that in recent years.

Another thing, if you buy it, make sure the propane tank cover on the front is latched on securely. If you forget to latch it and lose it, you won't find another since that was a custom piece. I know how sellers tend to show off features or buyers start looking all over, so it's easy to have it forgotten.

Great suggestions, Thank you !! It’s About 3 hours. Running into problems already.. Its in Maryland, I’m in PA. Maryland does NOT issue temp plate. Researching how to bring it home with no plate? Any suggestions?? Wonder how people do this? Buy in MD, bring it back to PA? Only me !!!

In Michigan, we are allowed to buy something and transport it home within like 24 hours unplated, as long as we are carrying the signed title/bill of sale to prove it was just purchased. Hopefully someone local can comment how that works.

Another option is to ask the seller if you can mail the plate back to them after you get home.

You might want to take a grease gun and pump a little grease into the wheel bearings, if the seller doesn't say they were recently done. They should really be redone completely now, but that should help get you home if you can't rebuild in the field.

Also, make sure the refrigerator access panels are latched on the outside back wall of the Que. Those are available, but they aren't cheap.

You can get a 30 day, or is it a 7 day tag (can’t remember) just for taking the vehicle back and forth to an inspection station. Though I’m not sure if they do that for out of state.

I was on the phone most of the day seeking a solution. Maryland DMV says they no longer offer any kind of temp plate. Pa can’t issue me a plate without the title. It is illegal to tow a rv in pa without a plate. In Pa my towing vehicles insurance covers whatever I tow regardless if it’s in my name in someone else’s name ( say borrow a trailer from a friend) . We aren’t required to carry separate insurance on a towed RV. Does Maryland require the RV to be insured separately? Or is it like Pa, covers whatever you tow?

Also. To get titled in Pa. ( brought in from out of state) the travel trailer needs to be taken to a special inspection station to have the vin number verified. A special form filled out. More $$$ of course... then apply for the title transfer and plate.

It is strange that PA does not issue something temporary to allow you to bring the trailer home. I purchased our Sunny from someone in Maryland. Virginia DMV will issue a Trip Permit that is good for 15 days that will allow you to tow home. You have to have the VIN and there is a small fee. You just put the paper somewhere on the back of the camper. I put it in the back window. As far as insurance, my insurance covers the trailer under the TV insurance but I do have the option to purchase additional insurance.

Nope, I checked. Neither does Maryland. And we also have the option to put additional coverage on a travel trailer through our auto insurance. Our insurance covers it being towed but if we want protection while it sits in our driveway, that’s extra.. like coverage for a tree falling on it?

Guessing this purchase is put on hold til we work out the bugs..

It was suggested that we use the sellers plate to bring it back to Pa. The seller says his insurance won’t allow him to do this.? I said it would be insured by our vehicle towing it.

Easiest thing to do is borrow a PA trailer tag from someone. It’s not legal, but I’ve done it plenty of times.

How far away from the PA state line or DE state line? You could have it flatbeded (thinking like AAA) to the border and get temp tags to take it the rest of the way home.

We towed it about 13 miles to PA to notary. Legal the rest of the way home.
