Hot Water Hose in Kitchen Sink Keeps Popping Off !

Yikes. Our first trip in our new Que and when I turned on the water pump and the hot water heater, the hot water hose to the faucet just "popped off". It was stuffed together (not screwed?). Is this normal or should the hose have been threaded on? My husband was johnny on the spot and turned off the pump, re-inserted the hose and tightened the hose clamp, but alas, the next time we tried, it did the same thing. Cut our trips short and now deciding what to do? New Faucet? Or ???

I assume because you said your husband put the "hose clamp" back on that this is not a threaded connector. That's a cheap move by the manufacturer to save a few production bucks. If it were my problem, I would replace all the connectors with threaded ones. But that's me.

It could well be that the manufacturer used some lubricant on the fitting to accomodate the hose sliding on easily, and used a bit too much. Take the hose off and wipe it off good. Stuff a cloth down the hose about an inch and clean any lubricant out of the hose. If you need to re-lube it to get it back on, use dish soap or regular bar soap. Do not use anything not compatible with plastic plumbing. Check the male fitting the hose slides onto. Make sure there is a rib going around the end of the tube. This prevents the hose from sliding off when clamped.

Good luck. If it still comes off, take it to your dealer and hollar.

I don't know specifically about the Que but all my faucet connections are threaded. Maybe someone broke the threaded part and that was a "quick fix" to use a clamp.

Is this the hose up from the bottom into the base of the faucet?

Unless something was special about the Que or the prior owner redid something, Sunline used PEX fittings with copper crimps rings or the PEX stainless crimp rings. The PEX fittings then have a plastic nut that screws on with a rubber grommet right into the faucet.

Something does not sound right or original. I wonder if the prior owner changed the faucet and cut off the PEX and spliced on some how.

See here. This blue line is right into the bottom of the kitchen faucet in my 2004 T2499. The white clear fitting on the right is a water filter spout I added.

Hmmm, I was afraid it was a speical fix it job by the prior owner! I am taking a pic and will post as soon as available.....we do so love our new Que and would really like to get it fixed and on the road again asap. Planning a trip just after Labor Day to the Oregon Coast to excape the heat here in the central valley of California. Thanks so much for helping...this forum is the best!

As you can see, the bottom of each of the hot and cold supply lines are with a screw on fastener (see top picture); however, where each supply line is attached to the actual faucet bottom, they are kinda just crammed on (middle pictures) and then have a hose clamp, which, of course, does not stay on? I don't think it left the factory like this, do you? Any solutions? new faucet? bottom pictures is a close up of the bottom of the faucet...weird to say the least....LOL.

Those pictures look like a replacement faucet was installed. The Sunline factory faucets look like the pictures John posted. I have a faucet that looks a little like that in my "sticks and bricks" kitchen sink. Those have a single hole with copper lines comming down to threaded fittings. It looks like someone with no plumbing skills added a new faucet.

Thank you! It IS the factory, fold-down faucet, but perhaps the former owner had a problem with it and changed the way it is installed? Anybody with a Que feel like taking a picture of their connection under the sink? It was really a pain to take a picture, I just shoved the camera under the sink and pointed in up and it worked! I REALLY appreciate all the help and comments....keep em coming please!

Virtually all new houses are now plumbed with PEX and any decent plumber should be able to set you up--for a fee. Seatech and Flair-it make a mind boggling array of do-it-yourself adapters to go from PEX to just about anything else including all the standard faucet fittings. If you're up to it, browse the web sites and then go ask for specifically what you need to do the job--Lowes, Home Depot or a specialty plumbing shop.

If you really do still have the original faucet, I can see no reason why someone messed with it using this binder twine approach. Do a little trouble shooting to try and figure out what happened. Also make sure they didn't cut back the PEX to a shorter length to fit in those stainless braided supply lines.

Sunline would not of used worm gear clamps and what looks like duct tape on a braided line like that. Something is altered.

It is not normal to splice in those stainless steel braided line like it shown there. That is problem 1.

Not knowing the fitting on the end of the faucet, you need to replace that braided hose setup with the correct hose to work on the faucet as the 1st step in doing this right. With the correct hose, it will fit that fitting correct. Then the clamp ideally is a crimp ring but a Stainless steel quality brand name worm gear clamp can work. Look for Ideal stamped in the side of the clamp. There are a few other quality brand name one out there too that are good. Lowes/Home Depot has them or any autoparts store. The one you show looks like the carbon steel plated jobs out of Walmart that strip just looking at them. There is a reason they are cheap...

Once you get that end fixed right, and have potable water 150 psi hot water rated hose, then on the other end you need a barbed fitting to work right with the hose to screw on the 1/2" NPT PEX fitting.

We have a few Que folks here as active posters, hopefully they can post what is original. If we can see what the fitting on the faucet look like without the hose on we can better suggest the right fix.

Here's an old thread about the under sink faucet problem. The previous owner probably tried to fix the issue by replumbing it. As you'll see, it's a common problem. I loved our QUE...except for having to make up the bed every night, and that faucet was a PITA. Mr. Tweety fixed the leak as discribed in the thread. The other thing about the faucet I hated was that to get hot water it had to be on full blast, which caused it so splatter all over the counter. To solve that one, I had him switch the hot and cold lines so the hot came out first. (ours was green, so yours isn't ours) I guess the good news about the faucet is that it is fixable.

Well, my husband just took the whole faucet off and we are on our way to Lowes or Depot for a regular faucet. We won't be able to close the glass lid over the sink (already took that off), but I will have the peace of mind of knowing the faucet is on for sure. Here is a picture or two of the faucet removed and as you can see, it was never designed to accept the screw on regular fittings. I guess it worked ok for a while, but must have deteriorated before I bought it. Still VERY happy with my Que.

Be careful when you chose the new faucet that it fits inside the lip on the sink edge!

Well, the clever husband installed a beautiful new faucet and it works like a charm! Here is a picture. The new one screws on and should no longer cause us any worries about water leaks. Can't wait to get on the road again....Oregon Coast, here we come!

I also posted a picture of our maiden voyage to beautiful Silver Lake, located in the Sierra Nevada mountains of northern California, about 50 miles south of Lake Tahoe, for those of you not acquainted with California geography. The altitude at Silver Lake is 7500' and it was gorgeous, much better than the 100 degrees plus we are "enjoying" here in Northern California.

Thanks for posting back on the outcome. And really neat camping pics. That country side out west is really great. When out in the Madera area for work a few years back we went up to Yosemite one day as we had a few hours to burn. Smelling all that pine and seeing the sites...all I wanted to do is grab my backpack.

However that was also before we turned in TT campers....but still hope to make it out there with our Sunny yet some day.
