Since the temps got up to 56* today, I decided to test the fresh water system in the 311. I also wanted to test the water heater install for leaks. Filled the fresh tank and kicked on the pump. I wanted to be able to quickly shut-off the water supply, in case there were any problems.
Everything went well, until it was time to re-winterize. I quickly found that there was no winterization kit installed on the water pump
Since Kitty usually has a spare, I asked where it was... "I dunno!" was the answer I got... Since it was getting late, there was no way to get a new one in time. Being as we have a plethora of spare Sunline parts around, I came up with an idea.
I used one of the low point drain valves, from the 299SR. with the pex lines off of it, I could see what was what, for each handle position. I learned that they aren't as simple as they appear. With the handle pointing perpendicular to the main line, the bypass is open. With it parallel to the main line, on either side, it allows the flow. The picture will explain better than I can... I apologize for the picture quality. It was taken with my Blackberry...
With the arrow on the handle pointed toward the clear line, antifreeze is pulled into the pump. With the handle arrow pointed toward the pump intake, water is pulled from the fresh tank.
I will put clamps on the white line, but what I have will work until then.
