Window replacement question....

Now, I may be crazy, but I keep thinking of how nice it would be to have a larger rear window in our T2563 Sunline. With the sideways queen bed, there are no overhead cabinets on the back wall, and it would afford a much better veiw of whatever is back there. Often it's a nice beach or forest.
Am I nuts? Has anyone done this? Where would I find a source for second hand RV windows?
Some of the things we've done on our '04 Solaris include axles, aluminum rims, new graphics, fantastic fan, some LED bulbs, wallpaper trim, thermostat, new awning, converter replacement, and even found a way to get the mildew off the white trim around the windows!
As you can see, we love our Sunny, and intend to treat her like the classic she is for years to come!

See this post were I linked where I bought a window.

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f77/need-to-buy-small-window-14321.html

What you are asking is doable. Try and find the studs in the wall and get a window that will fit to the studs left and right as a place to start or one that you can frame in from the studs. Since the camper is built you may have to choose a widow size that will fit better to where the studs are now and or frame over to it. You will need to create a mini header and sill. The rear siding may need to come off up to the window area. And that is very doable. The siding would come off from the bottom up, not like hoouse which would be top down.

Good luck and hope this helps

John

Thank you John, it does help. I have no problem with visualizing the header and sill, but am a bit unsure about the siding removal. One would remove the trim strips on the corners of the camper, but how are the panels attached to the frame?
If I find a window and proceed with this, I'll be sure to take pics.
Thanks again,
Tom

Hi Tom,

See this post of mine. On page 4 it starts with me taking the siding off starting from the bottom up.

http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...e-10695-4.html

While you are not doing a slide floor, there are a lot of pics there that may help with wall construction, siding, the corner edging that needs to come off and the re-assembly process.

The siding is not that bad once you know how it goes together.

Good luck and for sure take pics and post. These building pics post help a lot of folks.

John
