TV Tidbit
I have one of those cheap small flat screen TV from Walmart. Either we'll pack a DVD player or blu-ray in case of rainy days. But mostly, being a news junky, I like to watch my 6-o'clock news.
Base on the manufactures tag on the back my TV draws 35 watts. 35 divided by 110vac = 0.3 amps.
I also have 1 of those small 75 AC inverters seen at Walmart for plugging directly into the cigarette lighter (good for cell phones and laptops.) ~~~ $10 to $15.
Plug your 110 plug into the small AC adaptor and into your cigarette lighter in the trailer. Hook up you TV to your antenna and you're good to go. Great for "bugging out" if you don't have a electrical campsite. I'm now running 2 deep cycle batteries that are kept charged 100% while driving and sometimes in my driveway. I also plug them in once a once a month in the winter for a 24 hour topping up.
Rather than the appropriate Jack antenna I went the way of a full blown 8 bay bow tie antenna. I have to fold it up each time we pack (a pain for sure) but the rewards are many if you're far enough away from the city

Jerry,
I just ordered a 22" ac/dc tv w/dvd player and a wall mount. This is primarily for the T-2053, however I will use it in the T-1550 also.
I haven't got a antenna on the T-1550 as of yet. I would be interested in seeing photos of your antenna setup.

I'll get those soon. I'm using one of those telescopic extension poles use for high up window cleaning. You can get those at Home Depot or Lowes. It only goes up about 15 ft. No pretty but it works. I'll make an assembly for the antenna and poles and show you. It is kind of Mickey Mouse (from my perspective buy it's only for camping and completely portable
BTW the main reason I went this route was because I did not want to drill a hole in the roof. Portable is fine for me, for now. Plus I needed an 8-bay UHF for my ham tower as a back up for CATV

Here's the set up. Not exactly friendly looking for a trailer but it works. Most importantly it's portable and temporary. I found the pole itself is not as ridged as one would like. A definite no-no in a wind storm. I've been on the look out for a stronger telescopic (this one is aluminum). AS you can see from the side profile I could still raise things up a few feet but only put this together for demonstration purposes

Looks rather neat....aka.."cool" from what I see. What kind of range you getting?
I notice in the last photo what looks like a couple wires going down and connecting to the overhead wires. Your not by chance stealing cable are you?

Now that's funny right there. Actually I'm a retired cable RF specialist but even past employees are subject to being law abiding. My free days are long gone. Those lines that you do see are power lines out at the street. It's just a luck shot for depth of field and perspective
I just installed the antenna on the pole without hooking things up just to show you how it looked so the TV was not hooked up to the antenna. I just bought the antenna a couple of weeks ago from Best Buy and tried it on our last trip north. We were about 250 miles from the nearest TV transmitter. I got nothing, only a very weak analogue signal.
On August 17th we're on another trip about 75 miles away. I'll provide a report after that. Any test from our driveway is not fair because I picked up 12 stations just off a home made single bay UHF bowtie.

LOL! I knew the photo situation and angle! I just couldn't pass up a cheap shot and the photo just played in so well!
Yeah, I'd like to hear more on this antenna.
