Sunline Easy chair

This is not a Mod question per say... in terms of construction, so not sure if this is the right spot...
but.. we have a ' 04 Solaris T1950 .. still loving it!
only concern, the lovely "easy chair" that is in it next to table.. is truly not a good chair to eat at the table with. I have a sore back so the couch if better for me ( still not ideal) but the easy chair is just not the right height and my husband doesn't want to sit on a pillow. we are thinking of swapping out that chair for a regular hard dining table chair... Thoughts ?? or better ideas ?? would be greatly appreciated.

We have a 2005 T1950 and I agree with you 100% about the chair. We took the chair out of the trailer and we use a folding director's chair which is the right height for me and we are pleased. It may not work for everybody but it also gives us a little more space when the table is down and the chair is folded up. Just a thought.

Thank you !! another question for you about the table.. I think I posted her a while back.. about the table NOT sliding .. or very difficult to slide.. I tried rubbing a candle on the track... a teeeny bit easier... i might resort to WD40.. and just keep windows open for a few days.. other suggestions ?

We find that crazy chair is just a dumping spot !! Have you done any mods to yours ?or other storage suggestions ?? I love hearing other ideas !

I noticed on our table that the track was bent a little, I assume from lifting the table to high when we put the leg up, so I straighten the track and I use a paper tower with lube grease to keep it moving easily. That seems to work for us.

As far as storage, I put a shelf in the cabinet above the couch, I put a shelf in the cabinet above the TV bracket as we keep most of our hang up clothes in the truck, under the bed I put a shelf the full length of the storage area and that is where we store our towels, shoes and etc. I also insulated between the bed and storage area. I put plywood under the couch to close off the outside storage area and then I insulated under the couch to help keep the cold out.

Can you explain the "straightened the track".. did you have to remove the table ? from the track ? or just use pliers.. love the lube grease.. I am thinking it SHOULD move fairly easily.. we just about get a hernia when we attempt to move it !!

Love all the other ideas... thank you !! Love the idea of a shelf above the couch...
Curious.. the bed is a pain to lift we keep Extras in there.. TP, paper towels etc.. We keep our towels .. above bed.. another tough area to get to.. Our son who is older now and not camping with us anymore used the area above the couch for his clothes.. so that is wide open for us now !!! Where do you keep dirty laundry.. we just add to a plastic bag and tuck in corner of bed ( under tv shelf )

Putting shelves in the cabinets must have been popular. We have an '04 1950 we bought last summer. Both cabinets had shelves when we bought it. I wasn't sure if they were factory or not. How about above the kitchen sink? There are shelves there too.
Did you use 1/4 plywood under the couch? We take our cat with us and he found out he can squeeze down behind the couch and get into the storage area. I was wondering what I could do to keep him out of there. Thanks for the idea!

sarahcamp; Have you tried taking the table off the track and re installing it? When we bought ours it was out of the track. I took it out and put it back on and it works better, although we do not move it much. We usually just leave it up. Did you try any kind of silicone spray?

Hi Sarah,

I do not know what was in the T1950, was it the Steel Flex swivel rocker?

We had a similar situation in our T2499. Cindy would use the couch and I used the rocker. She could slide the table close to her and that worked for the couch as it was on a track.

For a sitting chair, the rocker was OK, for an eating at the table, ah no.... The height and back setting was all wrong. Not to mention once you sat in it, OK now how do I move in next to the table?

This is what we had and did.

Went to Staples and bought a good office chair. Work great as the back could be looked out of swivel, the height adjustable and it rolled real easy to get into the table. And it was a good sitting chair

However it rolled a bit too easy....zoom across the floor trying to travel with it. I tried all position and came up with this one strapped in. This solved the problem

Do not know if this will work in your floor plan, but it may spark some ideas.

Sarah, I put hooks up on the wall between the couch and frige. Used short screws.

haha I think the word easy definitely doesn't describe the stock chair!

I agree, they aren't bad chairs if it's a floorplan where the chair sits by itself, but if it's a floorplan that uses it as part of the dinette, it's quite difficult.

Yes, the track will bend or stretch if the table is dropped down or slides around while in travel. Once the track is fixed up, I think traveling with the table up will put the least amount of stress on the track because it won't have the weight of the whole table hanging from it.

Basically that table track is nothing more than a small steel channel with plastic slider clips that the table attach to. It's designed to be lightweight, quiet, but most importantly, cheap. IMO this needed ball bearings, but that's a story for another day.

If the height is wrong, you can also place a block of wood under the seat and attach the swivel base to it.....

We leave our table up all the time. I think the less it is moved the less problems you will have.

We've been to all the campgrounds you mention, and it depends on your focus when coming to the area which one I'd recommend.

Beacon Hill - small sites, but great location if you just want to see Amish country. Very quiet and no kids. We go here once a year when Steve runs the Amish Half marathon.

Old Mill Stream - walk to Dutch Wonderland, so it always has TONS of kids. Small sites, some of which are T shaped and can be hard to get into. Location is also good for touring. Because it sits down hill there's no noise from Rt. 30.

Lake In Wood - Removed from the touristy stuff, and a destination campground with activities and an indoor pool. Haven't been there in years, but it used to be very nice, with decent sized wooded sites.

Country Acres - another one that we like if we can get a good site, but some are small. The pull throughs are nice but they're in the sun. It's near some touristy shops, but you do get a lot of noise from Rt. 30.

I did that first, it helped on the height but the back angle for me was still an issue. And then to scoot in .... was not easy, and then once scooted in... now how do I get out?...

Here is the "lift me up" mod

Thanks for the good words on the pics. Pic's I have..... What would you like?

The coat rack. This one is floor plan dependent but worked great on a T2499

I used a piece of varnish maple and screwed it to the corner wood stud and to the window frame stud. Then screwed the swivel coat hooks to it. His and Hers

I have not "yet" perfected this in our T310SR. It will soon come but the wall area is different so I need to be more creative.

John

That's what I did, remove the base and replace with a 2x4 between the chair and base and longer bolts. Just right height and a 1 hour job.

I love JohnB solution to the uncomfy chair. I'm looking for an office chair with a small ottoman to replace my "bench" at the dinette in my T1850 Saturn. I removed the bench and will renovate the size of the dinette table too. Any ideas for a reclining, so I can sit back and read, chair?
