Structural question... anyone know why???

I'm working on moving my pressure/accumulator tank in our T-1950 in a better place than I had put it the first time.

This under bed support struck me as oddly placed (vertical 2x3 in physical center of photo that supports the horizontal 2x3 that makes up the bearing surface for the hinged bed platform). I don't know why it is located 2" from the wall rather than run along the face of the wall. I'd be much happier if I could move it 2" to the face of the wall, but it seems like it must be oddly placed there for a reason. The construction under the floor wouldn't suggest why it is there that I can think of? Anyone have a suggestion why I can't move it the 2" to put it flush with the wall?

Picture is of the under bed area with the mattress and hinged area removed. Wall on the left of the photo is the door side wall.

I now think that board is positioned out from the wall simply because the horizontal that it supports is cut short to miss the cleats that support the plywood along the wall. Doesn't matter much anyway, since I have a way to work with it in that place anyway.

moving forward.

Good luck Tod. You will overcome. Pop some pics when you get done. Always interesting to see mods.

I had a 2 gal accumulator tank in my T-1950 located directly under the tank fill hose in your photo and tee'd in where you have one now. It fit well, drained well and worked fine in that position. I didn't have to move any supports.

Yes, no question it will fit there, that would have been an option. I put a post up to show what I did.
