i know that some of us have had problems with the steps being free enought to just pull out with one hand ---- i know that the rear steps on my trailer were so stiff, that i sometimes planted my foot wedge against the ground to get it to move using both hands --- and usually not with much luck.
i tried - wd40 to loosen them, bushed the joints then a good grease - including chain oil (since it is not support to gather dust.dirt) --- no change.
so i have a neighbour ( our local mr fixit) take a look - he figured that the step rivetted joints were too tight.
taking a hammer to the outside side of the rivet, he tapped it whould holding an impact socket against the other side - provided support yet let the rivet move ---- he did this about 3 times per joint.
WOW --- i can now use 1 finger to move the steps in and out --- its like butter!
of course i again wd40 the joints, brushed them completely with a wire brush, wipped them with cloth and liberally lubricated them with chain oil.
last night was the first day in 4 days that i tried to move the steps and well it has rained almost every day since saturday when we did the work ---------- again like butter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thought iwould pass it along in case anyone has had similar issues with the steps and feeling like god himself would not be able to move them!
