RV Ceiling Dome Light
Has anyone wired a pull switch into their ceiling dome light? If you have can you share how you did it?
We have a double light, single switch dome light in the bedroom over the bed which is very difficult to reach. I thought a pull switch would allow easier access.
Any suggestions???

Maybe install a "wall" switch on the ceiling where you can get to it. Should be easy to run a wire east to west. I don't remember your ceiling height but I know this may also be a problem to the vertically challenged such as myself.

Our bedroom light is where Wifey cannot reach it but so far she has been able to get-by with using other fixtures. My intention was to buy a small lamp pull switch at the lamp store/hardware and wire it into the positive side of the ceiling fixture. That would mean a small hole in the ceiling fixture and hopefully that would be all. I can maybe get that done right after I solve world hunger. Priorities don't you know?

Pau, well Leo is among the vertically challenged also and he has to climb on the bed and reach to get to the light.....remember that Rubicon is TALL!!! He will not put any holes or what not into the trailer......we are "discussing" putting up hooks in the bedroom for clothes......
Jim, that is my thought about a pull string on the ceiling light.....if it hangs a bit lower than the ceiling I think it would be much simpler to reach!

What you need is a 12v clapper to clap on and clap off. I wonder if there's a remote out there? If there was it would be drawing power all the time I guess.
Are there any other fixtures or 12v plugs or tv power near by where the ceiling light wiring might come from? If you find the wire you might add a switch.

Kathy,
I have not done this however it is not that hard to do. Go to the real hardware store in Old Forge, the lumber yard one, and I'm sure they have one of these pull chain light switches. These are standard switches. Have Leo take down the light fixture, locate a good spot, drill a hole in the fixture and wire it in. You can make the pull cord as fancy as you want too.
