Replace old plastic toilet with ceramic?

I have a 1997 Sunline Solaris travel trailer 26', with a plastic Thetford Aqua-Magic IV toilet. I think it's low-profile. I'd like to replace it with a ceramic toilet. Does anybody have experience with this? Any advice or precautions? Thanks!

The toilet on my 2004 t-2475 is porcelain. Only the seat is plastic. I would suggest that you also consider the taller profile model.

I haven't done it personally, but a regular bowl should replace it no problem. An elongated bowl will be a problem in the back, it appears to extend back more than your current one.

An Aqua Magic Style II or Style Plus would be a good china bowl upgrade from what you have now. The Aria would not work due to the elongated bowl. Your current toilet should be about 11" from center of the drain pipe to the wall. The Style Plus is identical to that, the and the Style II is actually a little smaller, so there would be even more space between it and the wall.

I also agree that you'll want a tall profile model, the short ones are designed for places where the toilet is sort of sitting on top of the tank and has a built in riser on the floor. A pickup camper often uses that design. For flat floor applications like you have, you'll want the tall one.

I got an answer from customer service at Thetford. Here's what they said:

Hello,

The replacement toilet that I would recommend would be the Style II. The bolt pattern of the two toilets would be the same the only problem is that the Aqua-Magic Style II is 9-1/2" from the middle to the back of the toilet, where the Aqua-Magic IV is only 7-1/4". You will need to make sure that you have enough space between the middle of the flange and the wall. If you do not have the space, the upgrade would be an Aqua-Magic V but that one does not come with the ceramic bowl.

If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Awesome! Let us know if you're able to fit it. Mine is all covered up for the winter, so I can't easily go in it to measure.

I did this swap in my 95 t2590. I had to extend the water feed to make it flexible. The style II has a different angle water input and the hard plastic tube wasnt going to bend enough. everything else was straight forward.
