Removing carpet..

We had a major vegetable soup spill!!! and it has ruined the carpet in our '02 2363 lounge area..I have removed carpeting in other units to reinstall new, but I am wondering if it is possible to use just the existing vinyl instead of replacing the carpet..? I am assuming the vinyl goes all the way as in other units..Have any of you done this with good results? I am concerned about the staple holes where the curved cutout is..! Thanks..Janalee

We replaced the carpet in our 2653. The vinyl flooring went all the way to the back bedroom and stopped. Ours is a '95 and the vinyl had shrunk and split down the middle so we had no choice but to re-carpet.
We went with a commercial carpet meant for office buildings. Here is a pic of the area you were referencing. We removed the radius and put a small area rug in front of the door to help with dirt.

Looks good, easy to sweep clean.

Janalee,

When I replaced the carpet in our 02 2363, the vinyl stopped short of the couch by a little bit. Even if it did run all the way back, it would have been completely unusable since they used about 1000 staples to secure that little bit of carpet padding.

Did you try a carpet cleaner? Like those things they rent at grocery stores.

I'd much rather try to clean it than pull it up and replace it. That's a lot of work, considering it goes underneath the walls, cabinets, and furniture.

You might want to try some "Oxi-Clean MAX". I've had some pretty good luck with it working on some tuff stains.

I bought this unit for my house and have used it on the boat carpet, as well. It does a tremendous job of deep and thorough cleaning and DOES extract all the dirt from the rug. Expensive, but used enough times it is well worth it.
