Pulling up carpet

We have a T-2553 with carpeting in the living room area. We would love to pull it up and have vinyl throughout the front of the trailer. Has anyone tried to pull the carpet up? I wish if we did it that we would find the vinyl floor underneath. I called Sunline one time to ask and they said there was no vinyl under the carpet. I guess we could tile that area, but it would be nice to have it all look the same.

I just got my first sunline. Looking at the carpet it looks like it could be pulled up. Tile I think would add too much weight. If you did't want vinyl maybe laminate hardwood. That would be really easy to install. Still heavier than vinyl but lighter than tile.

Good luck

Oh, I agree about tile being too heavy. I was thinking about vinyl tiles, the stick on kind. Thanks for the wood laminate suggestion. That sound good.

kanyonkitty is an unknown quantity at this point
[color=blue]The problem with the stick down vinyl tiles, is that with the heat, they will have a tendancy to "move", causing "gaps". I'd do either sheet vinyl or laminate. To remove the carpet, I'd just get a utility knife and cut as close to the walls/cabinets as possible to remove the carpet and replace with your new flooring./ You might be able to use your carpet as a pattern or make one out of paper. Im sure you can do this and the outcome will be great!!

Kitty,

Thanks. I had not thought about the heat being a problem. I'm not certain that it will be, but I have to consider it. My next concern is how do I match the existing vinyl with the area under the carpet. Will a complimentary color look ok?

I am not sure either about the tiles creating gaps. Not saying that it won't. But I know there are many places that dont' have A/C and have that type of flooring. But unless it is going to get around 120 in your trailer than I can't see it being a problem either. The mid 90's to low 100's should be fine.

Disclaimer: have never put them in a trailer so ask the individual company that makes them......
