porch light
My T1350 is nearing completion. Last year I saw that the porch light lens was a dull yellow.
I took the unit apart and repainted the pieces original colors and drilled out the old incandescent light and fixture. I found a nice compact LED license plate light and installed it, minus the chrome shade.
With no place to drill holes and in order to keep the new fixture sort of symmetrical I decided to use my glue gun.
I found the glue wouldn't hold to the actual surface of the light housing. So I drilled two holes into the light fixture, so that, when I glued, the glue would ooze between the holes of the fixture and the holes of the plastic light housing, Armed and ready my grandson grabbed the wood working clamp and squeezed it together. Ta-Da-. perfect.
As for the yellow on that tiny lens...I used that headlight-buffer stuff from Meguiars. Since that plastic lens is a 'white' translucent not clear, it came up pretty good.
I could have easily gone to the RV shop to buy a new light, but the purest in me wanted to keep things as original as possible. To be original would be to replace the old incandescent fixture & light with a new of the same. But no one will see the LED light and it draws less powers as well as run cooler not to yellow the plastic...so why not !!!??
