Newbie ? #13: Command Adhesive?
Using the "fishing line" trick we took down the factory-issue picture frame and used Goo Gone and a "Lil' Chisler" to remove the remnants of the two-sided adhesive tape on both the wall & frame. (It did a real good job!) The actual pix was rather faded so we want to replace it; we're keeping the original pix in our Sunline file. We wanted to use Command Adhesive (rated for 5#) to re-hang the picture frame but the instructions state not to use on wall paper or vinyl surfaces. We were also a little concern with vibration bringing the frame down, especially since the cover is glass. Any comments about Command Adhesive or suggestions as to what will keep the picture solidly on the wall? Thanks!

Hmmm...my bad for not reading the fine print I guess. We've been using those hooks on Sunline walls for years, and now in the Fox. Since they're so expensive I've always taken them off when trading, and never had a problem. Never used the little tabs to hang a picture, but surely someone here has and will chime in.

Thanks, Pam & Steve! We do have a Command Adhesive strip up on the bedroom wall but it's doing "light duty" - we didn't read the fine print either before we put that one up - so we were wondering about heavier items like the pix frame. Another thread is indicating the same thing you wrote, that CA has been used without too many problems so guess we'll go ahead and put up the pix frame with it.

I guess I'm in the mod dog house, I have been using them on the vinyl/paper camper walls for years now... All of Cindy's crafts are hanging by them. And they are still working. Never had one fail, yet anyway.
That said, I also never hung a 5# weight off one either. Her material does not weigh that much....
I'll have to go read the package on the ones we have, I wonder if this wall paper/vinyl note if only on the 5# heavy duty ones?
Now to actually using them on a glass picture frame bouncing down the road. H'mm that "might" be pressing ones luck. You could change out the glass for plexi glass and take a lot of weight out which "might" help.
Heads up on where you place it if you do use the command strips, if it is over a Sunline counter top, that might be a problem. While the picture frame might survive dropping, odds are high it will dent/crack the Formica counter top if the picture frame corner drops corner down. They are hollow counter tops to save weight.
If it is out of harms way, then if it come off the damage may only be to the picture.
On our picture, Cindy did not like it, rather than try and get it off the wall, we used command strips and hung up one of Cindy's paper piecing craft right over it...
See here, the pic next to the sofa

John,
Wow, Cindy does beautiful work!
The Command Adhesive strips are actually rated up to 12#; the pix frame weighs less than a pound. The pix is located on the wall by the door as you enter the kitchen in the 2363 so if it comes down, it'll come down on the floor. We're probably going to chance it since no one's saying they've had any problems with the strips coming loose. We have the CA cord bundlers/hanger & it has the same warning about wallpaper/vinyl walls on it (in exceptionally small print), along with the "Don't hang heirlooms/don't hang things over the bed" warning. Like the idea of replacing glass with plexiglass tho' - something we'll look into. Thanks!

Really liked the thread with Cindy's mods, not only talented with the needle but very creative. Her idea of sewing together vinyl tablecloths is great as is using them for the seats. She's also got a great eye for color.
BTW, so far, so good w/ the picture frame put up by 12# Command Adhesive strips. Going to Buttonwood and back (about 40 minutes each way) the frame is still on the wall and seems to be holding solidly. 3M makes a good product.

Matthew and Lisa (can't tell which one...) Thanks, I'll pass along the good words to Cindy. Table cloths.... I never realized how much they want for a higher quality one of these.... This is what prompted the run to JoAnn fabrics and a project...
