Did other 2 tires yesterday with no leaks. The way the top washer is cupped and fits over top seal that might protect from UV. An O ring just might also work.
Also my TST705 TPM arrived and r now up and running.

Sorry I took so long to answer, John, but I had a little trouble logging in. My TPMS works very well. I had replaced the valve stems with metal stems because the rubber ones, even the high pressure ones, were flopping around and banging against the rims. Though this caused no problems, I went ahead and replaced them with metal stems. The system works very well and gives me worry free driving. I have made two trips across the US since I installed the TPMS and have encountered no tire problems whatsoever. I guess it's because I carry two spare tires. In 2008 I replaced my original tires with Denman(sorry to see them go out of business). They are wearing very well all around. I do check the pressure often.

Hi Joe, good to hear from you. We have been out camping and just catching up. Glad to hear your TST system is working well. The reports continue to be positive for this system.

Thanks again

John

Did my first trip with the TST 507. Really opened my eyes to how finicky tires can be. We left Mon. 27 set my tires at recommended 50 psi, (cool morning). Tires psi went up to 54-55 psi. When we left for home Fri. 31 air temp was in the 80s. I looked at my TST monitor and tire psi was already 55. Since I have the TST sensors with anti theft, which takes a key device to remove I didn't bother reducing tire pressure. On way home the high temp alarm (set at 60 psi) went off on 2 tires. Pulled over and reduced air psi a bit. I would say the TST's worked as designed. If I would buy again I would spend a little more and buy the flow through sensors. Easier to add and remove air as needed. It's hard to get tire pressure to match guage and sensor since guage and sensors both have a + and - variable.
Metel valve stems worked out great.
Maybe should have started a new thread with this review, Not sure where.

Jim,

Sorry so long getting back to you on this, Been busy and I still owe you some camp sites numbers for Fido.

The 5 to 6psi rise from cold running is common and normal from what I have found and know by a hand held air gage. But your cold was a "cool" morning to start with. I'm guessing it may have been ~ 50F when you started

Then the next day, you started cold at 80 F, and yes that is going to create a rise in psi and never move the TT an inch. It may rise yet another 5 to 6 maybe higher from running heat up then. If you had reset the pressure on the cold start (what ever cold start was for 50psi C range tires is) then you would not be so high.

This brings up a new thing I did not realize. If you use one of these monitors it sounds like the high and low limits are set off your "wanted" cold pressure. I know since I winter camp, I'm adding or letting out air every camper trip through Nov. to April. If I have a screw on with anti theft, that creates a situation to deal with.

When I was looking a year so so ago at TST they did not have the flow through which was what brought me to the Hawks head metal valve stems. And they are not good on trailer wheels. From your post I now can see the flow through they offer. This feature sounds great! Now I just have to sort out how far out it is going to hang out. They do look fairly long. Wondering if I'm going to get it caught and break it. Have to sort through this length topic but the flow through sounds like a wanted option.

If this topic gets much more TPS replies, I can move them out of this thread and create a new one for you. May do that tonight anyway. This is good conversation for TPM discussion.

Thanks for reporting back

John

John
Yes, you set the high and low limits yourself off your "wanted" cold pressure. Recommended is 15% above and 10% below. This is all done on initial setup. Temperature setting are factory recommended set but changeable.
There is the option of removing the anti theft from the sensor and using. One problem with removing and replacing all the time is the increased chance of loosing sealing o ring, just have a good supply on hand. Also removing sensor at end of trip stops the transmitting saving battery life. I see what you mean about flow threw being longer, I would have to see side by side to see how much. Plus they don't have anti theft I don't believe
As an added note on one of your old posts I seen where you clipped a close pin to your gutter. This past trip I seen my AC condensate was running off gutter down across a cargo door. Instead of changing pitch of TT I thought of the close pin idea. Worked great in moving water off side of TT
