Good idea, but I gotta try to do it without something from Home Depot, just because there is not one close around. That is a great idea though. Hmmmm....

Thanks!

I posted my comment in the wrong section! LOL. I was going to suggest a drywall lift from Home Depot tool rental! You can put the whole thing on there and crank it up to where you want it and even spin it over the top so it's over the RV and then lock the wheels on it! Just a suggestion. Not much lifting involved this way!

I put a lot of time into swapping out the old load center and re-wiring things so this old Sunline could handle the load, but that work is done, wiring is in the ceiling for A/C (from the factory) and coiled up outside the load center, so it's just popping the bugger in, connecting a few wires and cooling down...

Thanks Dave!

Support wood looks, feels and sounds very solid

Boy, that is a load off my mind. Pretty cool to have the wiring right there too.

Yes John, now I know. I can't wait to have a cool camper. I'm going to run the power wire inside the load center space into the box today or tomorrow, get the ground and neutral wires sized and connected, and leave the power one unconnected and taped till I get the A/C in. I don't think I need to worry too much about wiring the A/C unit, as I got both the top and the bottom with the controls, and it should just be the ground, neutral and power I think. We'll see. More pics soon!

Thanks again for the help.

Ready for A/C!

Here's where I got this morning. Gee, not too excited am I? Especially when it's already over 80 and muggy at 8:30 on a Saturday morning...

Because I didn't have a stress reliever for the new hole in my load center box, I sized the ground and neutral wires, then just pulled everything out. Will get a stress reliever later today and tidy it up before I pick up the A/C unit Monday after work. Will leave the power wire alone till I get the A/C in and hooked up up top. Also have everything unplugged, both 110V and 12V. Don't need power again until I have A/C. Yummy....

Sunline was pretty good about preparations for optional equipment. Our fifth wheel was prepared for a bedroom A/C also. That includes not only the wire, but also the additional support in the roof. Stay cool!

I agree wholeheartedly! A great company, wish they hadn't fizzled out.

Technically yes, but he still care takes some "camps" , has about 20 lawn contracts (and one of them takes almost 8 hours to do), and in the winter he has about 20 snow plow contracts! I work for an accounting firm, a contractor and a motel.....and we both volunteer many, many hours with the ambulance squad and fire department! So I guess we only qualify as semi-retired!!!!

Gee! That is NOT what I'd call retired! On the other hand, he couldn't have been too busy last winter. We know that for sure as our well needs some more precip to fill up.

Our middle son is going to SUNY Fredonia to be an accountant. He's in the "get-yer-cpa" program there.

Good luck!

Goodies arrived today!

Ya gotta love it. Truck bed full of trailer stuff. Inside controls were in a separate box, and inside the house. AC main unit will stay in my truck about 48 hours, then get moved to the top of the trailer. More pics soon.

Ta da da!

Got me a hole id the top of the T-1550 meant for an AC unit. Would ya look at that...

Boy, was that baby ever sealed on good. Whew! But we're good now. What is that stuff on top of our trailer anyways? Any ideas? Sure seems to be doing okay.

I wonder how the new AC unit will seal, or if there's anything more I need to do with existing vent mount holes? Hmm, gotta look at those directions again I guess.

Whippee!

Frank,

Your trailer has an aluminum roof. Keep all the joints, seams, etc. caulked properly and you should not have any roof leak problems.

When I custom ordered my '06 T-2499 I had a one piece aluminum roof installed on it. That is one of the main things I miss that was on that trailer.

I have even questioned our reliable repairman about replacing our rubber roof with a one piece aluminum roof, and he'd be willing to do it BUT due to the crown on the roof and the crown of the front end cap the aluminum can't be bowed in both directions. SO, I guess we are stuck with the rubber roof, but at least now unless Sunny is away from home, he is tucked safely away in his RV Port.

Kitty

Wow, what a piece of eye candy that roof was Kitty. Absolutely dazzling!

I only noticed a few areas on my roof that might need help. I'll stop at Boat n RV Warehouse sometime soon and see what they have I could use for minor maintenance stuff. there local store is right at the exit on the Thruway I use to go to work every day.

Good luck Kitty, hope all goes well for you.

Thanks!

There should be a dam and a large thick gasket (it will compress a lot) get rid of all the gook and just use the gasket should be good for at least 5 years there is usually a thin strip of the same material as the gasket that sticks on the back of the A/C unit to level it out.

Yes, I have some sticky stuff to get off mainah, but given my tooth extraction problems of the last two weeks, I thought I did good tonight getting this done. Seems my main problems with the tooth extraction are over now, a real good thing! Tomorrow first thing when I get home from work I will remove the vent assembly, clean that sticky stuff up and see how the new AC unit goes on, what it will cover, and maybe what it won't cover, and deal with it. I think I have everything I need, but in my experience that's generally not the deal. And yes, now that you mention it, when I was reading through the directions last night, they talk about how tight to draw the unit down on the gasket. I haven't seen the gasket yet as I have not taken the AC unit out of the box.

As always, thanks for the help.

Frank
