Filling Fresh Water Tank

I was reading somewhere about filling the fresh water tank. Someone posted they could not insert a hose so they could turn the water on and walk away. Some hoses connecting the fresh water fill to the tank is not smooth on the inside. My 1991 for example has a ribbed hose that is rough inside and when inserting the hose the inside ribs will catch the hose when in a sharpe bend.

My solution was to make a fill hose. So the end of the hose will go around/through the bends in the TT fill hose I trimmed the end of my hose at a angle. This will allow the hose to penetrate better and if you hit a snag you simply wiggle the hose and twist it until past the resistance.

next I put a female, swivel, connector from Home Depot to repair hoses.

This unit is about three feet long and should just about reach inside the tank on any TT. Also with a hose this long I know when water comes out the fill hole that the tank is full and not just blowing back from builtup air pressure in the fill hose.

I took a 25' rv hose and cut it up into a number of pieces for different uses. For filling the fresh water tank, the female end and about 18" of hose were the first thing to create. I found that you don't have to get your filling hose all the way into the tank to fill without splash back. Just getting about a foot of hose into the fill hose seems to be all that I've needed

The PO of this unit had cut perfectly good hoses into four different length pieces. Not a one had the 'free end' like this one. He claimed to only use as much hose as was needed at any one site. I now carry about fifty feet of drinking water hose, in two twentyfive lengths. And the shorty for filling with. The 2363 is limited on storage space but I'm slowly getting items stored that we need to setup with. My hardest task looks to be having enough blocking to level. Still not so sure just how much I'll need there.

The help of this post is the angle trim on the hose so it can be inserted easier.

We carry four packs of these, each bag is only 8.5" x 8.5" x 10" and weighs 8 lbs. We use them under the wheels to level, under the stabilzer jacks, and under the tongue jack. They interlock like LEGOS so they don't slide when stacked. They also sell cap blocks the give you a solid flat surface for the under the jacks.

You're welcome.

mdfiregal and I have built some pretty interesting contraptions to handle several wierd leveling situations. What we have found with the dual axles is that we layout how ever many blocks we need usually 1 or 2 high, back the trailer on, then you can usually remove two or three of the blocks from between the tires to use where ever else they might be needed, something you can't do with 2x10"s.

We started out with one bag of 10 and found them so handy we got another, then another, then another.... We usually use at least three sets when we set up. If the site is fairly level and with the height of our trailer, we found our stabilizer jacks are most stable with about 5 blocks and a cap block under them. Throw another five or six for a single layer under the tires and you can see why four sets!!!

We also have a set of the Lynx chocks (they hook into the blocks) that are real handy to keep from runnning off the blocks when backing on.

Send a message via AIM to quaddriver
the jayco popup I used to use had a unique solution: it had a valve hooked up to the city water that when opened would allow the city connection to fill the fresh tank, AND flush the gray tank via another valve....

OUr Jayco motorhome could fill the fresh water tank while connected to the campground water supply or I could close a valve and use strictly campground water. The gray water system was completely seperate.

I'll probably only carry about a half or less of 'our water' since with filters I'll have good water almost anywhere I'll go. That should do us for a day or so between full hookup sites.
