Fill fresh tank from city water connection

This mod seems fairly simple, depending on water line location. Basically, it needs a valve from the city water incoming line and a pipe/hose to the suction line, between the tank and pump. Put a tee in the city water incoming line, put the valve in the line coming off the new tee. Run the hose/PEX to another tee in the suction line between the tank and pump. The fact that we don't want to over-pressurize the FW tank, would make me want to use a small diameter line between the valve and pump suction line.

To fill the tank, you would have to open the factory fill port cap. Open the valve and wait until water comes from the fill port.

Here's a pic, of a factory valve installation. It doesn't show the pipe, or tee into the suction line. Open the valve and it fills the fresh tank.

#1 is the city water inlet and #2 is the fresh tank fill valve.

Yeah that would work but won't it be easier to stick the hose in the tank fill port? I guess the perfect setup would be a fitting in the top of the tank.

Now that we have the Excel, I got to poking around. There was a clear hose attached at a tee, to the suction side of the pump. It's the antifreeze suction line. The way they did it from the factory, it kept kinking and wouldn't let it suck. I modified it and added an elbow... Eliminating the kink.

Anyway, While I was under there, I got to looking at the factory plumbing and how they plumbed the fresh tank fill. Simply put, they put a tee in the suction line and hooked it to the cold water pipe. There is a valve before the tee. They also did not use the three-way valve, like Sunline did. There is a valve to cut off the fresh tank, a valve for the city water feed and a valve for the antifreeze suction. Here's a pic, to help you visualize it:

In the picture, the white PEX is what I added to the antifreeze line. I didn't notice until I saw the pic, but I may have to replace that crimp ring.

The line beneath the wire nut is the line coming from the fresh tank. The other one is from the city water. with both of those valves open, the fresh tank will fill from the incoming city water. The fresh tank line gets closed for winterizing.

That's amazing! First you have to get to it and then you have to open valves fill the tank then close them just because you don't like to stick the hose in the fresh water fill? Am I missing some thing here? If some one wanted to do that they would only need a valve between the pump suction and the city water inlet piping it would just by pass what the check valve in the pump does. So open the valve and wait for water to come out the fill?
