Lowell,
Were you watching me at the MnG last year ? I am a cordless drill user, have been for many years. And my power tongue jack has been on so many Sunlines, I think I have lost count
Do you think they actually meant for us to do this stuff "Manually ?" :P
I think NOT !!!!!!!!!
Power, gotta have more power
Kitty

DW and I occasionally wander onto an RV lot and look at trailers. We recently saw a trailer with a 'convenience package' which included electric tongue jack and electric stabilizer jacks. My first thought was how crazy is that, but then I quickly began to think how nice that would be. Not required mind you , just nice.
Oh well, I am happy with what I have have, but am certainly considering the electric tongue jack, and who knows, maybe a drill is in my future!
Happy Camping!

I do have to admit, I have never, not even once, hand cranked the stabilizers...I have used a cordless drill from the very first time. I even carry a back-up battery to my drill.
What do you all reccommend for the power tongue jack?.....the Atwood 3500 was mentioned in some prevous posts. My birthday is coming shortly and I'm buying myself a new toy in the form of a power tongue jack so your opinions would be appreciated. :P

I had an Atwood on my T-295SR and it was a great jack. Never even the hint of a problem. A buddy of mine did buy a Barker that was a little cheaper, and he hasn't had any issues with it either. The Atwood would match the trend of Atwood/Dometic appliances in your coach.

Both are excellent jacks. The jack I have now is older, but the company that made it is now either renamed or merged with Barker. It's been good.
I also have experience with the Atwood 3500. It's also very good. I like the front port for the accessory handle as well as the light position. Granted I haven't heard the new Barker's work, but my only complaint about the Atwood is it's really noisy. On the flip side though, I think the Atwood does extend/retract faster than mine.

Personally, I would stick with the larger capacity one. It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

Having had a Atwood 3500 on a T2499 and then moving it to the T310SR, I would go with the 3500. Less effort on the jack. In this case bigger is better. The 2500 will do but the 3500 will be better. Never know, some day you may upgrade the camper to a bigger one. And once you are a power jack user.... there is no going back to the crank...

That or going to a bigger, heavier truck.

Bigger is better, and once you "Push" a button instead of cranking, especially on a 98* day, you'll REALLY appreciate it. Plus it will really make it nice when you are hooking up your weight-distrubution bars. Once truck & trailer are hitched up, use the jack to raise the combo and most times you can just connect the weight distribution bars without any straining.
