Childproofing the screen door

Not so much a mod, but more of a find the right parts and install...
I was worried that my 2 year old would either push through the screen or overpower the tiny plastic tab on the screen door latch and tumble down the stairs. So, I ordered and installed two items:

Screen door grill - http://a.co/3cvx0BD
Storm door deadbolt - http://a.co/fIn4D2M

You can reach through the screen door sliding panel and operate the deadbolt if you're coming in from outside and the baby is inside, but it's out of her reach.

Nice solution. Never knew of the screen door deadbolt.

Your solution could also be helpful for campers with small pets that like to push/hang on the door.

Thanks for sharing.

John

Important info. If you do this deadbolt, you need to remove the hook that links the outer door to the screen door, otherwise if you each through and lock the bolt, then close the door, you can't open the outer door. Thankfully people were still inside to let me back in.

I can see where that would be important. Lol. The manufacturer should indicate that in the instructions for rv use.

Useful. My little one and a half year old already knows how to open the doors so this will be very helpful. Thank you.

I use an old fashioned screen door hook lock with the spring on it.Been using them for years and never a problem-but I agree with the poster who said take the hook to the outside door off!!! Ask me how I know
