Attaching things to walls and storage

Let's say I want to add a custom-made cabinet to one of the walls. What do you guys use to do this? This is a hypotetical question, but I might do so in the future.

Are you satisfied with the amount of storage space in your TT? In looking at new TTs I am shocked at how little storage space they have. This is one of many reasons I will buy a Sunline TT.

The problem with attaching heavy items to the walls in a TT is that the material is very thin luan with decorative covering. There are some 2x2 studs in the walls, but they are not always where you might expect them to be.

In some places, there is plywood sandwiched in the wall for strength. You will find this where the outside hatches are located, and also in the interior walls where there might be a TV shelf mounted. But it is invariably not where you might want it to be for a project like yours.

If you can locate some of the studs, you can probably hang your cabinet safely. If you attach it only to the luan, it will not be strong enough.

I moved the TV shelf from the bedroom to the end of the galley cabinet by the stove. To mount it, I removed the stove and then build up 3/4" stock behind the luan where the mounting arms attach to the wall. Luckily, I could get at the backside of the luan in this case, but it is one of the very few places in a TT where you can do that.

Yes, unless it's a 2363.

I'm satisfied with the storage in the T-2363. The pantry could be a better set-up, but we have unused space elsewhere. Would like larger outside storage though.

I went from a 1950 to a 2499 and we have more than enough room....granted I added one drawer under the bed - mostly for convenience, don't have to life the bed to get to the items I stored there....and added a door in the living room cabinet above the couch and added a door above the bed....again for convenience....the storage space was there I just made it easier to access....

I have cabinets with NOTHING in them.....

My T2499 has more than enough storage space for our needs. I don't even use the front lower storage area.
