Another converter retrofit!

My new Progressive Dynamics PD9260C converter came in the mail today and it was installed within two hours! I did not order the remote pendant for it, but may find one for cheap on ebay someday..

I started by turning off the 30AMP breaker to the old Centurion 3000 converter and disconnecting the power supply to the converter inside the CS3000. I put wire nuts on the ends of the wire and stuffed the wires back inside. I'm not removing the converter this time. I'm leaving it in, just in case the PD9260 should ever die. It will be very easy to hook this one back up in an "Emergency"

I then disconnected the 12v wires, coming from the old converter.

I used another piece of the battery wire, that I salvaged from the T-299SR and ran it through one of the existing Romex connectors. It is connected to the bolt at the top of the fuse block. The power has to go through the 30AMP fuses, to get to the main battery wire. The main battery wire is the bolt highest above the fuse block.

I also ran a piece of salvaged 299 battery negative wire to the ground bolt and through the other Romex connector.

When the breaker box was installed, Sunline ran the outgoing 120v wires so that they rubbed the corner of the box. I had one wire rub through and trip it's breaker. Luckily, it was to the outlet for the washer/dryer and is not needed or used. I cut the wire past the burned area and never hooked it back up. That left me with a spare 15AMP breaker in the main box. That breaker now feeds the converter. It is the breaker at the top-right.

I didn't have an extra outlet and box lying around, so I used one of the flush-mount outlets from the 299. There is nothing on the outside of those outlets that can be hot, so it should be good for now.

With the new circuit wire installed:

With the rear cover back on:

Ready for use:

With all the available room under the bathroom, it was easy to find a mounting spot for the new converter. There is a water line in front of it, but there is plenty of room between them for air movement.

Here's our voltage with several lights on, but the converter off:

Here's the voltage with the lights on and the converter on:

Since we got a new group 27 battery, I didn't want the CS3000 charging it to death. I've decided not to take Sunny's battery out, since we want to do as much camping as possible. I feel better leaving it in Sunny, with a proper charger.

Nice that you have the new converter/charger on it's own breaker. I have done that with mine what it does is allow you use an inverter to power your camper 120 volt outlets from the city power cord. I have a 50 amp 12 volt male/female connector at my battery and I plug my 750 watt inverter into the connector and turn off the converter/charger then plug in the camper power cord to the inverter and have 120 volts at my sockets great for TV laptop etc. With out the breaker it would try to charge the battery while you were taking power from it nice trick too bad it does not work! I leave my Progressive 3 stage charger on all winter long never have had any issues with the battery best upgrade you can do to your camper worth every penny.

It used to share a breaker, but I haven't figured out what else it went to. The breaker was marked "Converter/Appliance" I think it may have been to the fridge outlet. I don't have an inverter larger than 400w, but the generator makes up for it.

HI Gary,

Good upgrade!!! I lost track but I thought you did this a long time ago, but guess not...

The Appliance circuit words Sunline used , used to mean the galley plug so you did not trip it using a toaster or ele fry pan. At least on my 2 TT's plus Franks.

The convertor on TT's is normally on the General purpose circuit along with every thing else. See our one and only wiring diagram...

PS: I see you bought a new meter. Cool

Ah HA!!!!!

I knew you already did the PD converter....

And now you have yet another slide....

And this explains why you are doing a fire place change.... Ya know, the other one could of burnt out....

And why all of a suden you have 4 roof vents....

Next time just take pic of the bath room..... The neo angle shower would of hit me up side the head a lot faster...

And your sig file now gained 33 numbers, F311SR to (you do the math....)

Nothing like buying a camper with almost the same floor plan, just longer... and even the same internal colors? Ever know anyone who did that???

So what Sunny number is this??? I lost track....

Is the "pit" long enough?

Super Congrats!!!! So "when" was the offical transformation??

And where are the pics!!!! You can't show up with a new camper and no pics.

John
