Adding A Sewer Holder on the Frame

I was sick of always walking to the back of the 2499 to retrieve my sewer hose while at the dumpstation. On the 2499, the sewer connection is in front of the tires.

I carry a 5' hose for when we just go to the dumpstation and that way I dont have to pull out the big 10' or the 20' hose we carry in the rear bumper.

So I bought one of the sewer hose holders, along with some metal strapping.

Here is a shot of the frame rail where I planned on attaching the hose. I didnt want to mount it under the frame, as I thought it might take away from that precious ground clearance.

I bought some Stainless bolts along with some Nylock nuts so I wouldnt have to worry about them coming loose from the vibrations. I made sure to put enough strapping that I could wrap it around the frame and bolt it to itself.

The sewer holder could have acutally fit perfect IN the frame rails if I would have had the right tools to shave the plastic a half inch, and drill through the frame. I was a bit worried about drilling through the frame, so I decided to leave it out from the frame a bit.

Once it was mounted, it rides up and away from any road debris right on the frame. This was wasted space in my mind, so I actually lost no ground clearance or any space that could be used for anything else.

If I wanted to use the rear bumper for anything else, I could always mount another one of these behind the wheels for my longer sewer hose, and get the poop tubes out of the back bumpers all together.

You can see in this picture that the sewer holder is protected from road debris by the front section of the frame that blocks the holder. This way if I was to kick something up with the truck tires, the holder wouldnt be damaged.

Now when I pull to the dump station to do the dirty business, I have the hose right there. The holder is also big enough that I can leave the clear 45Degree attachment on the end of the sewer hose in the tube. This is 100% better than having to take it off everytime and store it somewhere which I hated doing.

Total time for this was about a half hour and I think I spent $50

Good idea putting it long ways like that. While I have my sewer setup on top of the rear bumper in a 4" PVC pipe, your ideal has sparked a new spot for other things. Only issue I have is the siding on the slide TT's and the newer Sunlines is round on the bottom tucking under. The frame is not as exposed.

Posted this on another forum I frequent and a few people commented that they've done the same thing yet used the longer tubes to hold such things as Fishing Rods, Poles for lighting...etc.

I guess I never thought to put some on the opposite side and use them for the rods. Great idea since I'm always looking for places to put them so they're out of the way

our trailer as a bit of a skirt on it - but wouldn't be hard to reach around it to get ot the swer holder --- i laove the fact that it is not lower than the bottom of the trailer as well - since we con't have a riser kit and the tailer is a wee bit on the low side.

i would easlily put one on the sewer side - althoguh it would have to be before the wheels as our sewer outlet is after the wheels and there wouldn'be be enought space after.

i think that i ill make mine out of black pvc piping so that i matches the frame and is a little less noticable

another summer project!!!!!!!

Great idea----------where did you get the sewer holder? Is there a part number.

Before buying my Sunline T-1950, I had a Scamp 16' travel trailer and it had the same arrangement for the sewer hose. It was mounted above the propane tanks on the front of the trailer.
