Added some shelving

Well, I finally got around to putting some shelving in a couple of the closets. First closet I tackled was the wider one adjacent to the bathroom sink/vanity. This closet was designed for "hanging" items. BUT, I had a better plan for it .

OK, with tools in hand, don't ya just love cordless power tools I proceeded to start "MY" project. I used shelf track/rails & shelf clips from where else? LOWES I cut the rails to the length needed and cheated by holding the rail in place with a piece of masking tape (this was because it was hard to hold a screw and try to use p
ower driver to screw it in). So, once I got all 4 corner rails held in place with tape, I measured for the shelf and cut my luan to be a very snug fit (I used 2 pieces of luan for each shelf to make it stronger), then I covered the shelf with contact paper for a nice smooth finish. Then I installed the shelf in desired location. Shelf needed a bit of "persuasion" to go in place, but that's how I planned it. The "Snug" fit of the shelves actually "hold" the shelf rails in place with no nails or screws. Here is the modified linen closet:

I also used this method to modify the closet on my side of the bed, here is that mod:

I "did" ask Gary "if" he wanted any shelves in his closet, and he said no, so it's not like I didn't offer to change his

I needed to do something, I was having "mod withdrawl"

Kitty

Forgot, I purchased a piece of wood with 4 hooks on it, stained it to match our Oak, had Gary cut each end off a little so it would fit where I wanted it, installed 4 command adhesive strips on it and installed it inside the door on the side of the entertainment center, now we have a convenient place to hang the pups leashes.

I had Gary do the cutting because he already had the tool out, saved me from dragging mine out !!

Nice job Kitty. It's amazing what a few shelves can do to help organize a closet

Good to see you back at mod'ing. It's been a while....

Your status on the "Mod Squad" is still intact!

Have fun camping this coming weekend. We are heading out too.

Nice Job Kitty.

Great idea to hold the brackets in place. (Thumbs Up)

Neat! I was trying to figure out how to install shelves in this closet and now I think I have the answer. Need to be adjustable and removable, depending on the trip. But I didn't see much to screw anything into, to fasten rails into place. Now I know I don't need to fasten them! I suppose there would be some kind of adhesive that would work too, instead of tape, to keep the rails there if the shelves were removed.

When we did ours we used wood, it is an hour trip to any of the big box stores,.....drilled holes and used pins.....however we used a peice of wood that went along the bottom and top to PUSH the wood into the corners, the pressure was more than enough to keep everything in place. We made the frame for our 1950 and gave it to Paul & Sherry when we sold it....I think they still use it.

I'll try to find photos and post them here. Well I must have deleted them...sorry!
