Accumulator tanks, any advise?

I see the products for sale and it seems a good idea to cut down the pump use as well as water surge and noise at night from occasional use. There are models that vary from about 2 quarts to some at about 2 gallons.

Are they a good idea and is bigger really better?

Thanks for your advise.

Paul,

I installed a 2 gl accumulator tank in in one of our TT's years ago and was very pleased with the outcome. For example the pump would run about 3 times during a shower compared to the constant running without it. It also cut down on the amount noise as most of the time during small amounts of water usage the pump wouldn't run. It saved on the battery also by not not kicking the pump on as often and creating numerous power surges. I bought that one at Lowes for about $35 and Tee'd into the water line on the pressure side of the pump. I haven't installed a tank yet in the Sunline but that may be one of this years upgrades.

Mike
