Accumulator tank ?

Unless my search procedures were faulty I was only able to find 2 short threads here dealing w/ accumulator tanks.
If installing one will both save on my battery use while boondocking & also reduce the frequency of having to listen to that very noisy pump cycling, getting one seems a no-brainer to me.
Lowes was mentioned as a source for 2 gal size & RV catalogs I have list Shurflo acc. tanks @ about $50. There seems to be plenty of room & easy access to install one next to water pump under bed in our T-1950. Assume a few hose clamps might be only parts needed to effect installation ?
Any additional thoughts/advice much appreciated. Thanx

I don't remember if my shurflo accumulator tank came with the double swivel. Probably because it is still in the box and hasn't been installed yet...

If you buy the shurflo tank, it should come with one. If so, you would be able to simply connect it to the output side of the pump and then hook the Pex line to the output side of the tank.

There are a few different ways to install it though...

Clicking on the picture, will get you the full installation PDF from Shurflo.

If you go the Lowes/Home Depot route, be sure to use compression fittings just like the ones on the PEX tubing where it hooks to your water pump. Otherwise, you'll have to use special PEX fittings, and they require a very expensive crimping tool.

Otherwise, it's a very straightforward and relatively easy DIY project.

I installed a 2 gallon tank in my T-1950 and wouldn't leave home without it. Less noise, no pulsating water, and saves battery because of much less starts and stops. I had to buy a fitting to the tank, hose and a tee fitting to put in line with the water line as well as 4 hose clamps. I bought the fittings at Home Depot and it took about an hour to install.

We have the same accumulator tank as EMD_Driver. Our came with the double swivel which made the hook up extremely simply. Not sure if you can buy them separately or not. Like others have said, we wouldn't have a rig without one. It provides a constant supply of water without the pulsing and the pump does not run as often.

As far as connections go, I would not go with hose clamps. I would either go with the pex compression fittings or the watts quick connect pex fittings.

With regard to the noisy pump, I removed our pump which was only mounted on a piece of carpet and mounted it on a dense closed cell foam pad. Once mounted on the closed cell dense foam pad we barely hear the pump run. I really have to pay attention and listen carefully to hear the pump when it runs now.

I used an old foam play mat from the kids room when they no longer needed it. I cut it down to size. I original bought it from Walmart. Here is a link to one that is similar to what I used:

Buy Single Tiles of EVA Foam

I would imagine you could use an garden kneeling pad as long as it is made of the same material.

My unit also came with the ShurFlo Silencer kit on it which when used with the dense foam pad in the above link seemed to quiet our pump down to the point where I can barely hear it running.

I'm sold !

Thanx much for the replies
Will surely be getting the shurflo tank, the proper fittings & mount the pump on a piece of closed cell foam as recommended. I've lots of it around left over from tent camping
(It's also available cheap in wallyworld sporting goods sold as a ground pad)
