7 Pin Trailer Connector Storage

I have made a trailer plug storage from a old plastic snaptop Spam container. I have cut access for the main wire bundle and four small holes for two wireties to fasten this 'storage box' to the jack post. A fifteen minute project after you eat the Spam.

First is the empty box on the post.

Second is the box with the plug inside. Yes I see the hole too. I'll cover it with electrical tape before I paint the whole thing black. You, should you choose to do the same thing, might be a bit more careful.

Now the storage box with the lid fastened to protect the plug from the weather.

I will add some silicone over the holes for the wireties. That way the only opening is around the wire bundle and should be made as small as possible.

I got this idea from a satelite dish installation done for me twenty years ago. If you wish to use this idea, please feel free to do so.

I did change the picture folder to public to see if that made a difference but it is probably me screwing up the picture links.

If I'm not signed in I do not see the pictures. If I'm signed in I do see them.

Jim-Bev,

Your post is fine. I have no trouble seeing the pictures.

BTW, that is a very clever mod.

Pixs posted from offsite storage:

Spam container with cord slot and holes for wireties:

Container with plug inserted:

Container with cover in place:

Container painted:

Maybe now pixs will show to even viewers not signed in. I hope so, anyway.

I'm signed in but cannot see the original pics posted. I do see from the external hosting though. That looks like a very simple and usefull mod. Especially since a dirty and corroded 7pin was just giving me a headache.

Good that the pics are viewable now. I've had the Photobucket account forever so I should use it.

The Spam container is also large enough to hold the end of the breakaway switches cable. The clip on the end of the cable was getting rusty so I lubed it and shoved it in there also.

One last thing I'll do is fasten something to hold the lid if it comes loose while traveling down the road. A simple wire or very small chain, I think. I'll post that when it is done.
