2499 bathroom cabinet access
A question for anyone who either has a T-2499 or similar model where the bottom cabinet space directly behind the toilet is almost inaccessible because the toilet would prevent a cabinet door in that area from opening.
The cabinet has a lower space that runs the width of the bathroom, but has only one door on the right. To the left, the toilet sits in front of it, so the front is a solid panel.
Has anyone come up with a way of utilizing this space in a way that is better than blindly groping around as far as your arm can reach in?
I suppose the space could be closed off completely to the inside and serve as outside storage for tablecloths, awning lights, propane canisters etc, if a hatch door were to be installed on the outside.
Thanks,
Rich

A hatch door behind your toilet would sure increase your chance of freezing..In one of my trailers I cut an oval opening in the blank panel, trimmed it with Sunline squeeze-on vinyl coated metal trim I had purchased on one of my company visits. Good place for extra bathroom tissue, etc.

We had that space in the QUE and did the same as Janalee. Steve trimmed it with some automotive rubber trim that he had laying around. It looked great, but it was a cold area. I'm not sure why because it did just connect right into the sink cabinet.

Pam..it was probably right over the metal wheel well with only a piece of carpet,no insulation. Janalee

The area we opened up was near the wheel well but not the wheel well itself. I'm sure that had something to do with the coldness.

We had so much storage in the 2499 that 'wasted space' never bothered me. It's not much good for multiple items, but seems to me we stored extra tp there... pretty easy to grab and you know exactly what you'll get.

Well, here it is, a few photos of what I came up with for this storage area.
This shows the door mounted shelf and you can see the end of a sliding tray that disappears behind the cabinet wall:
Then, a photo with the sliding tray pulled to the right for better access to items like toilet paper and chemicals:
Now, the space is better utilized and it eliminates the contortionist act that was required to reach anything stored in the lower cabinet behind the toilet.

I like that, nice job. Does that tray just rest on the wood runners and not on a track?

Thanks Gene, the tray sits on two wooden rails, no roller tracks here as it's pretty light and doesn't move more than 6". It slides pretty easily.
