We may be interested too. Love Maine, and my wife's Grandfather lived in Old Town. I see it's not far from Rochester NH. A friend owns the VW dealership there. Keep us posted.

Glad to see so much interest in this!!

Mainah, if you can give us the green light I will post a sticky thread and see if I can round up a few more folks who might be interested. Cost, campground loop we can have, etc. I will see if I can figure out how to make a "sticky thread" and start an offical 2103 New England Meet and Greet thread.

Ok give me dates that works for every one it just so happens I'm down at the camp ground working on the owners snow mobiles for the next couple of days. Now if they fall during Fair time we'll have to reserve spots that's Ok but we need to be first. The Fair week is not bad they are a different bunch then the canoe crowd. Mind you the camp ground does not put up with foolishness it's just crowded in peak season.

I'm not trying to change any thing, but I stayed at Colonial Mast Campground, Long Lake, Naples, Maine on October 14-17 last year with a camping group and although chilly was a nice campground. It was very quiet and not crowded with people. Nice lake.

Yeah, us too maybe, but are we talking the two weekends before Columbus Day, or the one after it? Columbus Day is the 14th this year.

I have some major rear window repairs to do before we head for Long Lake north of Sebago Lake in Maine Memorial Day. I have the window out and in my shop, and need to rebuild the completely rotted interior frame before I reinstall the window. I'm waiting for some decent warm weather, but haven't even had a chance to clean the mounting surface of the window yet because we're doing a fairly major interior remodel of the house. Sheeesh, can't catch a darn break!

Jack, this sounds very nice. I see other members mentioning Long Lake. Who'd like to try this place Oct. 5 & 6?

I think a place like that would be great. They're set up for year round camping too, so it would be an easy place to go, no hassles.

I have wanted to make a M&G for a couple of years now, but summer just seems too busy for me. An Oct meet in Maine, NH or Vt sounds great and we would try very hard to make it.

We would be interested in coming too. Can't do the weekend of the 19th, but otherwise we are open. Colonial mast on the 5th & 6th works for us.

Our "kids" gave us a 4 day trip to our favorite Wells Beach motel for our anniversary. The date is our choosing and we were thinking October. Need to discuss this. So, we are a "maybe" at this point for Oct. 5th & 6th !!

I just wanted to point out that the weekend of the 5th and 6th of October "is" the weekend of the Fryeburg Fair and the area is busier than ususal-including Long Lake which is not that far from Fryeburg. Does that impact anyone's decision ?

I contacted Colonial Mast and they are filling up fast due to the fair. They do have sites left (only 8 full service right now), but I suspect they will go fast. So, anyone wanting to sign up later might be out of luck. The chaos of the fair is not really appealing to us, but do please go ahead if the majority want to stick with this place.

Or, toss out a suggestion for another location? We are going to a big campground (KOA) on the NH/VT border in June, it's highly rated and the owners are very friendly and would give us a group discount. www.pinevalleyrv.com It is close to the interstates (I89 & I91) so an easy place to get to for those in MA,CT or NH and not that far from Maine and NY. And there are many, many things to do in that area. (Or join Tom and me there on June 7 & 8 for a mini meet & greet! It will be our first outing of the season!)

All I ask is you all decide I do not want to put the camp ground in a situation that they don't normally do as they close right after Fryeburg fair. It does not matter to me so what ever the majority decides I'm game. Again if none of you need hookup my offer stands you are welcome to stay on my land any date up until it snows.

Understood Mainah. I don't want your campground to do anything they don't normally do.. especially since we are so undecided. They know they can do well with the Fair campers and then close as usual. That is perfectly understandable ! Your offer of your own land is most kind and one of these days we intend to take you up on that! Only speaking for Tom and me, this particular Oct. weekend will be our last outing of the year and we're hoping to use it to do a thorough clean-out at a full hook-up place.

Still hoping we get a few ideas on what (or if) people want to do... or maybe we just have some mini get-togethers throughout the season to toss around ideas for a future New England Meet and Greet ??

Sorry for the delay in responding. We are not really wanting to mess with the fair if it means folks might be turned away. Maybe we should settle on a date then pick a place? Pine Valley is about a 3-4hr drive for us. We can do that or anyplace else.
Thoughts?
