2012 Buttonwood Canoe/Kayak Trip

2012 Buttonwood Canoe/Kayak Trip

Its time to figure out what trip we would like to take this year. Last year we left the CG at noon for the two hour downstream trip. It was very nice and we got back with plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day. So, if we can get and idea of what we would like to do, I will contact Buttonwood to arrange the trip.

Maybe switch it up and end at the campground this year? Not much response to this, but we usually get a group. Starting to wonder if there's any interest.

I was thinking the same thing Pam. It deos make it hard to plan things if nobody chimes in. Last minute planning makes things difficult.

Count me in for the kayak/canoe float trip. I'll probably bring a kayak as Wendy may still be in Utah working.

Here's a link to the cost of a trip. We have done the 2 hour float and the 3 hour in the past. Did they give us a discount? or did prices just go up? Steve plans to go. I might go. (After the thunder storm that one year I decided I'm a fair weather kayaker

Mike, She tried to talk me into hooking a rope from mine to hers but I refused. I am typing this from under the picnic table because it is raining and she won't let me in the house. I'm thinking about hooking a rope from my kayak to hers................. She has been practicing in the lake but this will be her first river float..............

Tell her to look at the bright side...at least there's a good amount of water in the Juniata, it's easy!

The last time I went kayaking (sadly was a while ago), y'all know I did more portaging than I did kayaking!

We would like to go again this year. Maybe go upstream and down to Buttonwood?

Ok, so it looks like going upstream and floating sown to the CG has the vote. So I will call Buttonwood and inform them of our choice. Last year they wanted those going on the trip to register/reserve a spot/rental upon check-in at the CG. It makes it much easier to keep track of everything. Thank You.

I spoke to Andy at Buttonwood on Saturday. They should have plenty of boats for those who wish to attend. You can make your reservations upon check-in, or up till Saturday morning. The two hour trip launching upstream floating to Buttonwood is unavailable right now, the launch area is closed. I told him the two hour trip downstream from Buttonwood would be OK. He also told me that the trips are tentative at this point. We have been having quite a bit of heavy rain in this area, and the river is up quite a bit. Lets hope the next few days are rain free so the water level will drop. Thanks.
