2009 Aerial Photo of Buttonwood

OK, I know someone will have this real handy. I'm wanting to look at the aerial photo from the '09 GTG, that shows the entire group of Sunlines at the rally. I know, I know I purchased the CD, but with moving from my desk to Garys desk, well, right now things are sometimes in hiding. Can someone maybe post that shot ?

Thanks,
Kitty

Thanks Kathy,

I was just curious about site 110 that we will be on this year. I changed site numbers this year due to getting the 5'er as its a tad bit longer than the 2499 was. Not that is want to wish time away, but I am really ready for our rally.

Shoot, I just wish we'd get one nice weekend so we could do a quick camping trip. 20 some degrees is NOT warm enuff for me to have Gary hitch up, load up and drive us somewhere. Not even warm enuff to consider "camp driveway"

Jon also sent me a picture by PM. So I am good to go.

Kitty

I think you'll have less room on 110 than you will on your old site. That site shares the driveway with the other site and I think it'll be pretty tight for your truck.

Hi Kitty

OK now we know what your up to. See this one. The pretty red F350 next to the group getting ready to have supper is site 113. You will be 2 sites up from there. In fact I think you can see us waving....

If you want this full pic let me know, I'll send.

John

Jon, after seeing where Kitty's camper sleeps.... Buttonwood is a drive in the park. Really.

Now we could rig up a few telephone poles to make her feel more at home to back around, but to replicate the mountain... well we better start digging now….

Trust me, they will get it in there no problem.

Looks like it should be fine. Will probably back in 'til the tires are at the end of the site pad, leaving the rear of the rig hanging over the grass. That will put us in the site far enuff to allow for the truck to park. Will only have to watch out for the electrical box, water & sewer connections, NO trees, telephone poles, carport corners, hills, ditches, railroad ties, etc. Yep, I figure Gary will get the rig in there safe & sound, while I supervise.

Oh I'm not worried about them getting in there, I'm just a bit worried as to where the truck will be after it's unhooked.

John,

There was a mixup in the office, so we WILL be on site # 110. The mixup was due to the fact that 111 had already been reserved. We are good to go.

Thanks for check on it,

Kitty

This will be our first time, but Buttonwood looks like there's not a tree in sight!! We're used to state campgrounds in the woods---this is going to be a change for us, but you guys make it sound so wonderful....... any words of wisdom for the hesitant??

Nancy,

Your correct that there are not any large trees in the section where the rally has reserved, BUT Buttonwood also has sites across the street and those DO have "trees". So if you really want trees you could see if they have any sites available across the street, that would be on the riverside of the campground.

Personally, I'd rather be treeless, as that is less crap that can get on the camper = less crap I have to clean off, OH, wait, I can just get Gary to clean it, ok, now I would consider doing trees in future locations.

Poor Gary... BTW, did you ever get that shadow of that decoration off the front cap?

Yes Nancy, just like Kitty said, there are no large trees around. Buttonwood started out many years ago as two competing campgrounds I believe, one was on the river side and one on the inland side of the road. Buttonwood started out as a small park full of large beautiful trees, but only had like 20-30 sites. This part still remains at the front of the park, though all those sites are reserved for seasonals and most of the units haven't left in a while. Then about ten years ago I'd say, they were able to purchase the back property (I think it was a farm) and they built it up. They have planted trees on most of the sites, but they just aren't very large yet. In early 2008, Buttonwood had the opportunity to purchase the campground across the street, on the river. They've been working at upgrading the antiquated systems there. When I talked with them this past summer, they were working on installing the putt-putt, and I think once that was finished the plan was to begin improving the Riverside. I believe they were going to reconfigure the sites to make it a little bit more transient friendly, since many of the sites aren't very deep and are tight to get into. Not to mention they are all grass/dirt at the moment, so I suspect they plan to put in some gravel down there.

I'm not sure if any of these improvements are occurring, because they're being done as the budget allows.

You are free to choose a site on the riverside, we've had members there in the past, but keep in mind you'll be much farther away from all the group activities going on at the tent. If you do want to go to the riverside, you'll need to make your decision rather quickly as Nancy (at Buttonwood) is putting all the non-Sunline reservations down there for now.

Jon

Nancy, My wife and I are also State Park campers and found it a bit different when we went to Buttonwood 2 years ago. We felt kind of naked without the trees. But it's actually not bad, it's kind of neat at night sitting around the fire being able to look at the stars without the trees inhibiting it.

It's the only trip we take all year that is like this and we have met so many great people the past 2 years that we wouldn't miss it for anything. Come join us and you will be hooked.

We do too.....I might be taller than it but it is a tree.

Nancy - we live in the Adirondacks and state campground ALL the time....this and Western NY M&G are the only campgrounds that we even have electric on - you could get spoiled even without the trees.....

Talk about change - this year we are camping on Asteague (sp?) Island in Maryland - it is a sandy beachy area without any trees.....but what they hey we're taking the grandsons to see the wild ponies, so we'll live with the sun and sand for a few days.

Hope to see you at Buttonwood.

Hey gang

just got off the phone with buttonwood and Nancy was just telling me that they add cable to all the sites, there will be a bounce and laser tag for the kids, and the mini golf has been open since last 4 th of july, they are redoing the bath house on the riverside as we speak, and will be starting to reconfigure the sites on the riverside in the fall after they close this place just gets better all the time Dan
